Bear should produce a "new" multitool and try and get in the game so to speak.  Nothing revolutionary, but a quality multi that could compete with what Gerber and SOG are producing.  Or better yet, maybe Bear can solve the "riddle" of the Powercut design and release a tool with a cutter head.  Or a slipjoint plier head design...

Dang! We should have asked him why they never did a slip joint adjustable plier, like they show in their patent drawing. :(

Good point, instead of keeping something innovative like that, Bear's innovation was that crazy locking system.  Or I should say "resistance" system.   :D

I'd love to see a modern Bear multitool :)

Bear Jaws are well built MT's, their locks suck though.

That's pretty much my big beef.  I hate those weird wing locks.  It's a great tool otherwise, but a pain (literally, in the thumbs) trying to close open tools.  I may have to see if I can find a non-locking version for a more fair assessment.

The Big Bear said basically that there was no point in working on new tools since it wasn't a money maker for them.  I felt that with a little bit more promotion and some good old fashioned flogging we may be able to help with that.  It's basically a catch 22 for them- until they do something new with their tool line no one will pay much attention to it.  Until someone pays attention to it, it's not worth upgrading.

I will be in touch with the Big Bear and see what we can work out between us and them, and maybe, just maybe we can help break the cycle.

I gotta say...I'm on the lookout for a cheap-o Super Bear Jaws as it is.  If they were slip-joints, I would hunt one down for retail.  A big-headed slip joint plier is really something that the MT world lacks right now.

...it would also help if their knives and files were actually as long as the handles allow, but that's neither here nor there :P
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

Yeah, those wing lock levers are hokey.  The Cresent ToolZall is the same as a lockless Bear Jaws (155), just stamped with Cresent ToolZall on it.  I bought one from this link on eBay a while back.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Crescent-ToolZAll-Pro-14-n-1-Multi-Tool-Made-in-USA_W0QQitemZ220536733959QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3359038107  They even threw in a Cresent ToolZall hat as a bonus or whatever.  I don't wear hats though.

Finally Tim looks over at the young engineer and in a deadpan voice says, "Why didn't you think of that?"

   I can imagine the young engineer got that a lot from Mr. Leatherman and probably still does
