Anyone seen this yet?
on: August 06, 2006, 04:00:55 AM
This is the new Hybrid Pruner from Leatherman... I honestly don't know what to think.  Anyone seen it in person or have any comments?

According to Leatherman:
Quote
The Hybrid puts convenient, high-quality, multi-tool capabilities at the user's fingertips. The compact, folding tool frees up space and cuts out unnecessary time spent searching for stand-alone tools. The user-friendly design lets you access the tools you need quickly and safely. The Hybrid's non-slip handles and well-placed bumpers provide a comfortable, solid grip that helps reduce hand-fatigue. Open or closed, the handle design ensures smooth, easy placement into the belt sheath.

And, it has accessories too!

Quote
Add even more functionality to your Hybrid with a Removable Bit Driver. The set comes with a driver, five double-sided tool steel bits and a standard nylon or leather sheath

Looks like they are running about $50 on eBay... I might have to get a set, although I don't know how good a review I can do of them as I don't really do much pruning...

I could definitely get some use from that around the yard.  Very cool.

Lokks like Leatherman has another winner on their hands, thank god its not pink or my wife would want one for sure to go with her Pink Esquire and Pink S4................... ;D

I have gone through a number of pruners over the years( I used to be a landscaper) and I would like the additional tools it comes with for sure.
You always need a saw or weed puller...I always carried my own knife of course it was SAK with a saw ;D
The Sheath would be nice to have to..........esp sonce you can put the pruner into it either open or folded up....very handy as one is always putting their pruners down to do something or other........I think I will buy one...........even though I like my compound ones I  do have now.

Its a logical extension of the Vista that they brought to market already................I know somebody who bought one of those, he's a tree stand hunter and Turkey hunter and he is quite pleased with his Vista.

I actually hadn't seen the Vista yet... seems LM slipped one under the radar!  It looks pretty cool too now that I look at it.

I miss Phil- why did he have to go and have a kid?  Didn't he know that would cut into his forum time?

I found the yellow ones at a local place today for $50 Canadian (about $45 US) and I didn't get one, only because I didn't have any money on me.  I go by this store about three times a week and I was wondering if I should take the plunge.  Any comments for or against this thing?

I have seen them at my local Gander Mountain, but can't recall the price offhand.  Looks like a good tool to have handy if you do much yardwork, but I have nothing much to prune.

I want one, but have not yet found them for sale in my area.
As far as I know, JoeBW is the only guy here who has one. (So far!)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Saw one advertised in an Oz magazine.....A FISHING magazine.
Got my doubts about the efficacy of the secateur on anything substantial.
Nice ide for light use when the real tools are back in the shed.

I think that was the basic idea for all multitools originally, but that seems to be forgotten nowadays.

I found the yellow one (Hybrid) in a local shop for a decent price and I'm having a hard time keeping myself from getting it.
