I'm actually awed that the Resilience is bigger than the Mora Companion

Just when I thought Done.....Dusted, mind made up: Pacific Salt, yellow handle, plain edge

.......I get the price. 500 of my monopoly money more than SE Pac Salt instock at another shop. (2250 vs 1750)

And to make matters worse I get offered a display model Endura with British racing green handle and.......ZDP-189 for 1800

 :ahhh

Now I don't know what to do........

maybe you need a little push regarding the Pacific?  :pok:

however,I'll insist on getting SE if you get H1. Worlds of difference   :salute:

That's what everybody says.......and the SE is the only thing I hate on my Salt 1.

I'll admit a lot of that comes from cutting through an apple, being betrayed by the grind and ending up with a line of little bloody dots on my thumb

Also understand that the PE will likely do the same and leave a bloody line, but I was fully intending to take the shoulders off the top of the grind on the Pacific with my Lansky stones with the hope of smoothing the cutting....

.....Just informed the Endura is indeed the FFG model

BRG ZDP189 for sure.

And a Pacific Salt in SE for cutting fibrous things.

The order just went in..........with nothing on it for me.

The price in the PE Pacific stings......and I feel the burn when I see the SE Pacific for so much less in another shop.

I love the idea of the ZDP, would be the only "super steel" I have, but the whole platform is the opposite of what I'm looking for - simple robust low maintenance cutting tool.

I know the H1 edge retention is not great, but is it worse than 8CR13? I doubt it, so it's not bad.......

The Endura has steel liners, a more rust prone blade, and will require more maintenance.

What I've grown to love about the Salt 1 is the rinse-out & forget simplicity.

Hmm.  I have been using ZDP189 in a Dragonfly 2.  I am loving this steel a lot.  All I've done when the blade came to me was a series of stropping compounds.  This blade has cut food and a range of materials.  No noticeable dulling and no chipping as seen thru my SAK Explorer.  I have washed the knife with soap and water and dried with a towel not being fussy about "completely" drying.

You mentioned this guy and he's seems to like ZDP189

This guy has a really great channel and likes ZDP189 as well.

I will admit that I got this second hand and at a very good deal or likely I would have ended up with something similar no matter what but I am totally glad that this one was the one I ended up with :salute: Wasn't trying to be an enabler but I had the pic so figured I better put it up :D

Well, I'm stuck between a Adamantium rock and Vibranium hard place......without the necessary budget.

Friday night over  I showed my cousin how 4 passes on the polisher removes the roll from the Salt 1's PE at the tip and leaves it scary sharp.

That made me feel SE was OK, went to the shop Saturday morning and had the SE Pacific in my hand.........just can't make peace with the SE.  :twak:

:salute: I hear you, knives with stainless liners are very practical, used my previous knives the same way without issues, the rust that does form will take many years before it's a problem.

I have to admit however that I've drank very deeply of the Nutnfancy-flavour KoolAid  as far as liner-less plastic handles are concerned, I like and trust that setup.

All of this considered, I can't get what I want now at a price I'm willing to pay......

What I can maybe get is a CS broken skull (blue) for the same price as the ZDP Endura.  Arguably better steel (CTS XHP) and the construction I prefer.

I also think with so many nice knives and so many steels to choose from it muddies the waters of choice.  Dont get me wrong its not a bad thing but it sure makes it hard to choose tho price point sure helps put everything into perspective.

Really?  Worse than 8CR.   Thats not worth the corrosion resistance in my day to day usage.
