Erm, worse yes.

H1 is a funny steel, and it's soft, but it does like to cut.

Might be a function of the serrations, but my experience its performed better than 8CR for me.  Even with the roll on the tip it still cuts.

Had a few too many  last night and started messing around, funny thing is I could not do on the strop what few seconds on the polishing wheel does to the edge.

I know the H1 edge retention is not great, but is it worse than 8CR13? I doubt it, so it's not bad.......

Erm, worse yes.

 Glad to see you can move your fingers

That cutting is due to the edge geometry on the serrations, hence I avoid PE.
I have two go to knives for cutting stuff, my Gayle Bradley M4 and the Pacific Salt SE; depends on the makeup of whats being cut.

Thanks! I've had a Byrd Meadowlark 2 for a long time (and also the Ganzo clone of that model), and finally I decided to get the original as well. On first impressions it's definitley a different level of quality, I love how slim and grippy it is, but suprisingly the pocket clip just doesn't agree with my palm for some reason, I find it uncomfortable, while it didn't bother me at all with the "clones". The Delica's clip is slightly slimmer and longer than that of the clones' and what a difference a few mm's make!

So I took it off as I wasn't intending to carry it clipped to the pocket anyway, it just rides too high for my taste.

You're right, there are deep carry clips for the Delica, I've been looking at those before for the Meadowlark, but with shipping to Europe it would cost silly money, around 60 % of the price of the knife itself (and more than the Byrd itself cost). I just can't bring myself to buy one.

all of you in Canada, stock on Spydies!  :like: :ahhh  Now it's the time, since it seems like there will be no more Spydies going across the border for sale, or warranty repairs, at least from Warriors and Wonders, arguably the biggest Spyderco dealer/distributor in Canada  :P
