Yes I watch too many Youtube videos.....

My opinion is thanks to my Salt One, and my little experience with the Pacific Salt so far..........not beating the Nutnfancy drum....

Even though he makes a valid point on weight in the video, I just can't see myself doing anything with a knife where the steel liners are necessary.

I acknowledge and admit the weight difference between a Pacific and an Endura  are about the same as a sparrow's fart, but I do feel the difference, and I do care about it.

That's why when I think about that ZDP Endura my thoughts to the Broken Skull.....but that's made by Cold Steel and has a thumb stud.  Then I just carry on with the Pacific

Anyone got a ladybug who also fishes ?

I'm very happy with my new dragonfly I've found i like small Knives much more then larger blades.

Anyhow thinking of a ladybug as a gift and part of the use it'll get is fishing. Would it be big enough for general fishing tasks and for cleaning small fish such as mackerel?

(My other thought was the new Mora floating knife but that's not available yet and yeah I know it's huge compared to a ladybug)

My only (brief) experience is with a Dragonfly Salt, never seen or held a manbug or ladybug.

General fishing tasks, well for me that's cutting line or bait, you don't need much.....

Cleaning a fish is another matter.  I've cleaned a 1.5Kg Tilapia with my Salt One, that was adequate, but I would want something considerably larger at the coast.

Going by a few minutes in hand I would be hesitant to use a Dragonfly, much less something smaller.

I would not use it for that.
At the very least I'd go for a DF2 Salt,
and a Tasman/Salt I is not really much bigger, but packs a great punch and might be of decent length to clean fish,  :tu:
also depends on how many and which type of fish are we talking about,

but I've seen a few instances of people cleaning fish with a Pacific or Salt I and that's good enough, but not great, in most people's opinions
You could carry the DF2 for small EDC tasks and cutting open boxes, line, etc and use the Salt 1 or Pacific for in-the-boat tasks and fish cleaning, killing and braining

small fish such as mackerel?

Latin name please, there are huge "mackerel" out there  >:D

Pretty sure I know which one you mean, my minimum for that would be the Salt 1.....or Salt 2 now.

My favourite Spyderco ergonomic is that 50/50 finger choil, but when cleaning fish the slight removal from the cutting edge that the Delica/Endura ergos gives you is preferable.

On our coast cleaning fish is usually cold, wet, messy and semi-painful at times.....

..

um, latin ? yeah they're little mackeral  :D

yes, and when i worked on boats this was indeed the case, however this is just a bit of fun fishing and worst case it can be brought home to gut and clean.
Not looking for something heavy duty, an SS mora companion would do that trick fine i guess if that was the case ? Cheaper then a pacific or atlantic salt.
As i say, not for me but trying to find a gift for someone who wants to enjoy a little bit of fun fishing.

Thank you Gerhard and Peacent for your input so far.

This knife is an enthusiasts refresh of a classic that’s keeping many knifes out my pockets these days.
Simple carbon steel with a soft stainless laminate.
Seems better than VG-10 in keeping its edge with some good use.
I can’t wait for the Stretch version, even the Delica.
