On an impulse I ordered an FRN Robin 2 from Knifecenter tonight...

I've been jonesing for a nice USA made spydie, like a Manix 2 or a Sage 2, but like so many other toys er, I mean tools, I want to buy, I've got to save my pennies to get one...  But I just couldn't resist any longer and needed something new to play with, and got the Robin.

I start getting paid from my new job next month, so I'm going to see if I can talk my wife into letting me have a little spending money...

So THAT means I'll have to decide what I want more, a Manix or a Crunch...

Yes, my first H1 knife.

The edge retention is horrible. Didn't take me long to part with mine.  :-\

Have you considered getting a Native?  US-made, tough as all get out and a classic Spyderco design that's been around for a long time.  Also, relatively expensive for Golden Spydies (bested only by the UKPK FRN)

Yes, my first H1 knife.

Unfortunately true.  I got a Ladybug Hawkbill H1 to replace my sprint run Hawkbill and it just didn't hold a candle in terms of edge retention.  I've heard H1 falls somewhere around AUS 6 in terms of retention would be better than most titanium non-rusting options, but not great.

I wouldnt call H1s edge retension horrible. The good news is it does resharpen easily when needed. At least that my experience with H1 and I`ve used it alot.    :)

The only H1 I have is serrated hawkbill I clip to my swimming shorts, don't see the need for it otherwise, although I'm thinking I need to switch to a sheepsfoot version instead.

I like the look of that one too  :tu:, though I think I might have preferred it if the clip wasn't black.

very happy with this one, my first higher end spyder, the quality difference is amazing, (though my other ones - ladybug, frn ukpk were already great)

Initially I didn't want the CF, as it looked a bit flashy, with the 3D sort of effect. Now I think they are fine. I like how thin they are, and I can't imagine them showing up scratches too easily. Unfortunately its illegal to actually carry this one in this country, so I can't speak for its practical utility.

I like the look of the pocket clip, I had a similar one on my ukpk that worked okay, though it did end up falling out and getting lost when I dug into my pocket to get my ringing phone.

:o that sucks. I love the look of that knife, but the pocket clip ruins it for me.

I'd love to get a Sage 1...  I still might, but the cost for a single knife is a bit steep for me.

I have an FRN Dragonfly 2 and an FRN Endura 4 FFG on order.  The DF2 will be my pocket EDC, and the Endura will live in my cycling bag.

I still want a Sage though...  :ahhh

two new spyders: native 1, and ukpk drop point g10. I like the aesthetic of the native, many people find it ugly. it is such a neat comfortable knife though. I especially like the roughened texture on the choil, as opposed to jimping. The UKPK I actually carry, there's more photos on the ukpk thread.
