How about an oldie.  It's not in as bad of shape as it looks.

First of all the combination of stuff carbon fiber scales and some big old bronze washers make this the smoothest knife to open I have ever handled.

As for the bolt action lock it is good. Right out of the box I could operate it one handed which is way better then the lock on my Manix 2. It also has a thing where if the blade is almost closed some kind of reverse pressure will pull it closed.

Of course my favorite part is holding the lock open and flicking it open or closed over and over.

The few vids that I'd seen on these said they were saber ground guess they never checked or corrected themselves. I don't think they were around all that long the ffg craze hit pretty hard. It took me a while to actually find one.

Orange is the new black.

The latest addition to my orange Spydie family is the little guy.
BFOK Military on top, Endura, Delica, Dragonfly and Roadie.

Still early days and I have not used it much to have a strong opinion on utility.
I can open it one handed if I need to and the steel feels hard on the sharpmaker, think I will like this one.

Just a random question: What do you think about the Spyderco Pingo, guys?

I've been thinking about getting another Spyderco for a while... but then I want something cheaper (their prices are outrageous here), something smaller, but not tooooo small, just something convenient for my hand - the Ambitious I have is just perfect fit for my hand;

I also want something to be opened with one hand... which isn't included in the design of the Pingo, but peopole manage to open it one hand..

Anyway, any input will be appreciated :tu:

I'll tell you next week, N_N_R. Got let down by the guys at the UK meet last weekend - no one had one for me to play with so I had to get my own.

looool

I'm pretty sure I'll get one at some point, but can't decide if to wait for an orange one from eBay or get the regular black from here... but black can be carried alwayswhile the orange is cool but stands out too much....

what will yours be?

Orange! Nicer than the black.

Been looking at getting a Spyderco for a while - but don't really like the blade shapes of most of them, particularly the UKPK. The Pingo is much more interesting to me and looks like a really nice little knife.

Am I missing something here?

You are looking for a OHO 2.25ish blade Spydie? Easy, Dragonfly all day. Incredible little big knife.

To me it does :D I just want something more different. Visually. And the Dragonfly seems to be smaller than the Ambitious which will border inconvenience, kinda.

Ok, so can we just focus on the Pingo which I'm kinda determined to buy for some reason, I just need people who can say more about it...

Unless I start thinking otherwise soon. lol

Visual appeal is a highly subjective matter and the burning desire to acquire a new tool or item of kit because I've been seduced by the look of the thing has cost me a small fortune over the years !  The most recent example being  the Swiss Tech Utilikey, which wasn't expensive but it wasn't any good either.

By the same measure, I've also managed to reject what would have been good purchases because I disliked the look of them.....which is pretty pathetic but the norm in my case.  My only real success story has been with the Victorinox Bundeswehr Knife, which has tremendous visual appeal and practical function.

Returning to the Pingo, to me looks to be pretty unremarkable in visual terms, although not an ugly knife and the orange is an attractive colour.  So if you like the look of it then you must buy one
