Screwpop 4 in 1 Tool
on: February 09, 2010, 08:05:45 PM
Some time ago, Gadget Guy started a thread about these.  You can see the thread here:

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,16359.0.html

Last week, the owner of the Screwpop tool called me and asked if I'd review it.  Being a multitool junki.... uh I mean being the owner of a responsible multitool website interested in providing as many facts to as many people as possible.  I haven't had a chance to put it through it's paces yet, but I do have some initial thoughts (and also some pictures!) to share!

The four functions of the Screwpop, as listed on the instruction sheet (and yes, it comes with instructions!) are:

    Bottle Opener
    1/4" nut driver
    Phillips screwdriver
    Flathead screwdriver

As you can see, it's made in China, but as it's a very simple tool there shouldn't be any worries about quality control, as it's pretty hard to mess up one piece!

The bottle opener works exceptionally well, as it's pretty well a standard bottle opener, rather than a fold away component that needs to save space for other tools.

The screwdriver bits are well formed and use a ball bearing to stay in the driver, and seems pretty secure.

I'll give more details and thoughts on it when I have them.

It looks like it could be used while still on a keychain- the opening is certainly big enough.  I'll try it out later.

There's a lot of reviews of this tool on Youtube now.

I've been asked to do one too. It is a rather neat thing, I'm going to be kind to it :)

I used to come here a lot.

Yup! It actually works very well indeed. It's a neat little thing.

I actually have two now, thanks to Zack. Expect a low-value give-away in the near future :D

John was kind enough to send me one of these and I got it yesterday.  For some reason it really speaks to me and I really like it.  It just, well, works.  The bits as Def said are well formed and it has a good solid feel to it.  It makes a great addition to my work EDC which has to be completely bladeless and safe if dropped.
I'm back!!

What, one movement and cap off?

I think it may have been the fact I was drinking Becks.  I think I remember writing before how I found those different to open.  Got a few different beers tonight so I'll report back.
I'm back!!
