Don't need one, I leave bread crumbs.

Don't need one, I leave bread crumbs. But that wouldn't get eaten by roving bands of budgies.

They do look neat but they're not cheap (no pun intended).   The lowest I've seen them is around £50 including delivery but I still reckon that's too much.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

It looks nifty, but my phone has a full mapping GPS, maybe I need a backup though?

I know a few people who use them to find their car in the parking lots.
A little Leatherman information.

You can actually get an old GPS without the mapping software that will do that.  I have an old Magellan GPS300 that does that, only stores up to 99 entries.

I got it from a SOSAK member a while back for about $30, and it's waterproof so I use it for kayaking.  Plus, it measures speed, so I know how fast I'm paddling, which is nice since it's hard to tell you are moving at all when you are in the middle of a lake!

Anyways, no one seems interested in these old GPS models nowadays- I'll bet you could obtain something like it for a song.  Sure it's not as portable as the one from Hennie, but I think it's a billion times more functional!

I have not actually measured it, but I would imagine that 4-6 hours with the screen and GPS on sounds about right, if it takes me that long with it bloody walking though I would think I have other problems.

Given a choice, I would much prefer to rely on a good map and myself.. :)

Although maps are great, you can hardly hang one on your keys that covers pretty much everywhere like this would.  it also functions as a digi compass and I expect is the size of a largish one so you gain a lot of function without adding too much bulk.

Yessir, I would agree that having a compass is important too.. how else to get one's orientation correct with just a map? :D To each his own, but I just have this inherent fear of relying on something that runs on battery power... :/ Maybe I'll get this to complement my basic navigation gear-- but not on it's own, at least for me. :)
