Battle Series Knives.
on: February 19, 2010, 03:45:40 AM
I am not doing all that bad in regards to these knives. I am only missing one for a complete set.

Here are the wooden presentation box covers.

And a peak at what is inside.

Only missing the Battle of Morgarten 1315.

Great shot. I love those knives. I have 5 of the 7, missing the Morgarten and Rutli. I've seen them all pop up on eBay except for the Rutil. The Morgarten, though, has been listed several times for $200 - more than I want to spend on a fancy scaled Spartan. That's just a little less than I paid for the other 5 together.

One of the ones on eBay right now is the Murten. I like that one because it's the only one that's not a "battle" version of a production model. Its a Spartan w/ a fish scaler. The St Jakob is probably my favorite, though - gotta love the Passenger.

For some reason these have never really interested me. I know some of the models are pretty rare but still there are so many others I would rather have.

Now has anyone seen the "Life" collection of alox scaled Wengers? Interesting, and they seem to be really rare. They are all the same model of knife though with 6 different scale colors and designs.

Thanks. Considering they only made a thousand each...or so says the little certificate papers, I consider myself most fortunate to have gotten what I have.

Nice, you are very lucky, would like to get just one.
Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

Yes, but WHICH one?

These really are very nice Chacko. They certainly deserve a place in any SAK collection, but like you said only about 1000 collectors out there can get them right? :-\

They actually made 9,999 of each, not 1000 (at least according to the certificates inside). Plenty to go around :):

Wow! That is a big difference. Are these ALL serial numbered? Are the serial numbers only on the paperwork or also on the knife itself?

Yup - 0001 to 9999. It's on the knife under the corkscrew, along with the year:

I read that as only 9999 for the whole series. My math is still off though, as there are only 7 knives. Now it could also mean 9999 per knife...but then why write it like that. Anyone with better information?

EDIT: Never mind, I have given it a bit of thought, and it has to mean that there are 9999 of each knife out there. Guess my chances just got better at completing the set. :D
