I normally don't use lanyards on a Pliers-based MT. The exception was this weekend, I had one tying my Core to my belt while ice fishing. If it dropped down that hole, I'd never see it again.

benner i work in a care home , when im doing the care part i use the esquire i keep that in my pocket, but when i do the handy man bit i have the wave in its pouch , i cant wear combats while caring as there not aloud,

paul

Can I ask why that is Paul?

Considering your role there I would have thought it essential.

I was at the local hospital today and noticed the porters wear combats, what's the difference?

I've worked plenty of places that wouldn't allow combats as part of dress code. :-\  Do you have some kind of uniform Paul?

I keep a lanyard around to clip onto MTs that have a lanyard hole if I'm going to be somewhere dicey.  Otherwise, they usually get in the way, especially on my Wave.  The built-in clip interferes with the scissors pretty mightily, and I use the scissors *a lot*.
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

I like lanyards , they save you from lots of accidents . They are also a great asset when theirs a foot or so of snow on the ground .

I have not had a lanyard on my tools since my days in the Coast Guard.  Where I carried an issue rigging knife.  I carried the knife in an open top hand made leather sheath that had been soaked overnight in neetsfoot oil.  The lanyard made for better extraction from the sheath in case we got tangled up in a line.  The sheath also had a separate compartment for a 6" SS marlinspike, courtesy of my machinist mate friends.

Now the Wave with a plastic stretchy cord that has proved very durable . Notice how I thread it through the hole in the bottom of the sheath and use the detachable lanyard ring .

Now that's a great idea...  Just my type of lanyard...

So far I haven't used lanyards on my MT's...but mostly because I've been EDC'ing them in my tool pouch inside my bag.

This week when the Charge AL that I got in a trade arrives, It'll have a nice coil lanyard waiting for it.

It's the exact same lanyard type that I've been currently using for my E.D.C. LED Flashlight.
