Explorer Plus...Where is the straight pin?
on: February 27, 2010, 03:28:35 AM
Not sure where to look to see if this one has it or not.

Thanks!

A tiny hole flush with the celidor scales very close to where the corkscrew pivot is. If yours has it, it might be empty, or it could have a tiny pin head sticking out enough for a fingernail to pull it out.
A little Leatherman information.

Thanks for elaborating on donvito's post, Chako.  I found the hole, no straight pin.   :(  Thank you too donvito!

I have found the pins that hold some dress shirts in place in their packaging, fit in there nicely.

Would the pin make that much of a difference if I'm just going to put it up for auction?  How much value would somebody really put on the pin, lol

I duno, a box of them should only be a buck or two at office depot.

Thou personally I bend a sewing needle to fit in there if there isn't a pin, since it's heat treated and stronger.

Not to mention having an emergency sewing needle available makes WAY more sense than a damn pin. I have yet to think of any situation where I would ever need that pin. But a sewing needle could be a life saver.

Hi

I've used the pin to dig around/move skin when extracting splinters/shards

I carry a small housewife (sewing kit) in a capsule on my keyring

Well yeah sure, but those all could have been done with a sewing needle as well. Not saying the pin is useless, but that a needle would be better. It just seems that there's more potential use for a needle than a pin. Especially if you got into an emergency/survival situation.

Good idea about that sprayer nozzle thing though, I gotta do that today lol.

You must never get splinters or blisters. I use the straight pin all the time due to my propensity to get both.

LMAO.

But still, a needle could take the place of the pin for removing them just about as well. And when I do get them I prefer tweezers usually.
