Not coming to the UK
on: March 01, 2010, 02:14:07 PM
I have just enquired when the Stlye will be in the UK and rec'd this reply from www.shop4leatherman.co.uk

Thank you for your e-mail.  We have previously enquired regarding this product and Whitby & Co (Leatherman's UK distributors) have advised that they won't be getting them in this year.  I think they are only available overseas.

THAT IS NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dunno, OH opening is not illegal and it does not lock. Also it is slightly bigger than a Vic Champ. Chako thanks for the offer I will snap your hand off!!!!!!! :drink:

Surely the legality has nothing to do with it

The Wave, Skeletool, etc. are 'illegal' in that sense as they lock.

Perhaps they are being cautious to see how the US sales go first; I'm sure they'll be here soon, officially  ;) :D

it is generally cheaper to import leatherman tools, even with tax, than to pander to the whitby monopoly.

+1  :tu:

I have only bought two Leathermans in the UK both at least half price :D I also bought two from the US of A via members here  :tu:

I don't think I'll ever buy 'full price' Leathermans in this country; Whitby's just take the you know what with the pricing

Well I have just emailed Whitby to find out for sure. It would be nice to see the Style in shops like you do with the Vic Classic!

Ah well, they will still be available from the States and will cost less in the end. :-\  Still a pain in the ar5e though. >:(  Whitby's high price fixing is already an issue for me so I can't say I'm awfully impressed with them at the moment.

Well it's good news, but I'm still not going to let them play their price hiking game, so I'll still be looking abroad for any of these.  The shame of it is that I actually prefer to give my money to British sellers, but the huge price difference between here and the States (as set by Whitby I believe) means I just can't justify the extra cost. :-\

I agree Gareth  :tu: I would rather go into a bricks and mortar shop, try before I buy and spend my money here.

Although the online retailers have cut out the shops on most occasions anyway but at least the business was in the UK :D

I buy most of mine from the States to (Gadzooks or Moontrail) but if I am dropping hints to my wife for Fathers Day etc then it is better to show her something shiny in a shop than try discussing exchange rates!

What's the shipping like with these two Ady? For example a regular multitool?
