I am going down to Louisiana with habitat for humanity this weekend and will be gone for a week and here is what I was thinking of taking:

1. 09 Soilder (as a knife and saw that is handy)
2. Powerlock (whatever)
3. Champion plus (eveings, pen, and what ever the other two don't have)

What do you think

Good setup, but no light?

Thats what I was thinking, and no backup light either.

Good stuff on helping with the Katrina clearup mate.  I'm thinking of taking 3 months out of work in August and doing some international aid work of some kind.  Not decided what to do yet though.

I've helped Habitat for Humanity build two houses.

It's just a great experience.

Good job brother!

Did not think of a light good idea :tu:

Well RP Louisiana makes it easy to help, they even have a whole website about it (something to think about)

And perhaps throw in a small FAK? Just a few Band Aids, some alcohol swabs and triangular bandages to start and you could address the possible small hiccups that might occur in the middle of a task.

I take my hat off to you mate  :salute:  Seems alot of firefighters do this kind of work . We were asked if we would like to apply for a rapid deployment water rescue team and become part of a UK team drawn from several Emergancy services .Too much commitment for me as you have to leave at the drop of a hat and could be gone for weeks . Well done to you for doing it .Really interests me .

I don't know much about the situation there, but hasn't it been 5 years since Katrina, and they are still rebuilding?

I only know from reading stuff on this inter-web thingy,
Seems like a good idea if the lights run on AA or AAA's as you might
have trouble finding anything else
As Andre mentioned take a few first aid bits an pieces there's also tons of advice
out there about what to take, I would also tweezers for splinters

Good luck with a worthwhile task!!

Stout boots!  :ahhh :ahhh

Good setup, but no light?

As already mentioned, a couple lights are needed. May I suggest a headlight and a hand-held both LED and using rechargeable cells.

Oh, and a FAK is a good idea.

I don't know for certin but, the cynic in me says that Louisiana likes the free labor and tourism money they get from "VolunTourism," but that is not a back upable statement.

For me it is just a cool bonus that I get to go somewhere I have not been

You may just be better off carrying a candle then.  :D

Seriously, pretty much any LED light will emit more light and be more efficient.  :tu:
