Wave Pocket Clip Appreciation Thread
on: March 02, 2010, 06:00:51 PM
:salute: The best accessory for a multitool imo...innovative, handy, functional and cheap. I wish every multi had this option, but only Leatherman has this type of innovation. I dont usually wear a belt so its the best option for me.

My only gripe is that it doesnt fit the surge as well as the wave, and moves around too much, but it's still usuable.

I hate them actually.  The wave is too thick to carry in a pocket easily in my opinion, and ever clip I have had, has been snagged on the couch and bent.  So, its sheath or pocket carry only for me.

Front or back pocket?

I keep it in the front and barely notice its there, and don't usually wear it around the house.

I liked the one on my Charge Ti . The thickness of the package , plus the texture of the Ti made it feel pretty secure . I only carried it while wearing loose fitting work type pants .

It felt really insecure on the Surge , didn't fee; like a viable option .

I'm a fan as well. Multi-tools should, at the very least, have the option for a pocket clip since it opens up a lot more options. They can generally be fitted with a minimum of fuss during production but are difficult for the end user to install so it's good to see examples like the Wave an Skeletool that incorporate them into the design.

I accidently bent off the clip on my ALX.  I really want to replace it, but I don't want to spend 10 bucks plus shipping on a little piece of metal. It did start to wiggle a bit too before it went. I miss that pocket clip  maybe someday I will replace it.

The Ti and XTi look like they would hold a clip more securely as they have a recessed area of the Ti scales where the clip touches the handle, which would minimize side to side motion.  The ALX and AL are flat scaled and do not offer that advantage.  Can anyone comment on the Ti's clip holding vs the AL's? I don't have a Ti and so I only say what I think I see.

All Multi's should have the clip option , ditto for Alox SAK's .

I like the option of a pocket clip as well, and am quite keen on the Wave and Kick clips. Although the ST300 is such a monsterous big tool, I kind of wish the option were there also :)

The removable lanyard ring is useful if you do a job like Dunc's. He can secure it to his belt, confident that it won't go swimming, but quick release it to use.

Not for everyone I know, but it's an innovative solution for some, that none of the other manufacturers have gone anywhere near! The best bit about it is that if you don't want to use the function, there's no redundant component on the tool.

Therefore, I think it's ace :tu:

The pocket clip is an innovation that should make the other bands hang their head in shame tbh - why wouldn't you incorporate one into any new tool design?

I never thought of that dave, so yes as a quick release a good idea and use the slide one if not needing a quick release ,  :tu:  and i like clips as handy for in the pocket or in a bag ,

I think the real point is, that is if you don't need it - leave it at home or chuck it - might as well have the option!

Options are nice. I only wish more of LM (not to mention other manuf.) tools had pocketclips. I also like how it works on the Kick with optional piece and pre-drilled hole, otherwise you don't need to worry about it.

I think you are leaving money on the table if you don't put a clip on a tool nowadays . The Spirit needs one in the worst way . I hope our friend Multitasker includes them .

Don't forget the Grip Clip http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,18266.0.html it's real good for putting clips on tools that don't normally have them. If I had the spare cash I would buy like another 5 and put them on all kinds of stuff. It's really nice to give a tool a carry option that isn't normally available.

I am usually a sheath guy :) but I do use the clip on my Wave and have used it on the Surge as well :o :D I like having the option if I don't want a bulky sheath on my side :tu: I also pocket carry without a clip though really doesn't make mush of a difference to me I guess but I like having the option there
