Genus - The Professional's Pruner (and multi-tool)
Take everything you know about professional pruners and turn it on its head. Or in the case of Genus™…Rotate it. These new pruners feature an industry-first: A rotating handle that stores a full set of professional tools. Just push the button and flip the handle around and you'll find a knife, Phillips screwdriver, sprinkler head adjustment tool/flat screwdriver, bottle opener and very aggressive saw. Included with this professional-grade pruning tool is a diamond-coated file that doubles as an open-end wrench to adjust the pruner nut when necessary.

This was also in the email from Leatherman.  Anyone know anything about this?

I kinda forgot about this little item in the Leatherman newsletter...too excited about the Skeletool/Freestyle I suppose.

The rotating handle parts sounds different, as does the diamond file/wrench tool combo.

Everything else...
pruner jaws,
knife,
phillips screwdriver,
sprinkler head adjustment tool/flathead screwdriver,
bottle opener,
and aggresive saw,
....sounds a lot like another tool they make.

I once had a Leatherman Genus
It looked like it came from Venus
Similar to the Hybrid
So bought it I did

Good one Defender Allan Poe, you'll have to submit that to your contact at Leatherman. Perhaps they can use it as part of their Genus advertising campaign?

Finally some pictures out for this thing. I must admit, it looks interesting. Especially the rotating handle bit.

looks more like a dedicated set of pruners though. Hopefully it will be stronger than the last two.

I think the second photo is showing how the "Leatherman" button has to be pushed in order to rotate the handle.

Good question! Maybe it's an accessory that isn't attached?  ???

Cool pics.  I like it.  Looks like I'll have to add the Genus to my shopping list.

It looks like it has a lock nut on it, so you would only need a box end wrench to adjust it and then I assume it will stay put.

I like the look of it.  It looks like Titanium, but that would cost a fortune.  It's probably aluminum.  Would that be strong enough.  And if the hand spins around like it shows in the picture, wouldn't that make the handle floppy loose around the joint?

It said something in the LM article about the Genus being for professionals, so it ought to be tough.  I don't know that I'd try to take on a deer with it, but maybe some small game or birds.  Has anyone tried the Vista for cleaning game?  Seems like it wouldn't do much beyond small birds.

The Vista/Hybrid is certainly adequate for use as bird shears. (although I haven't tried them out as such yet)

I should hope the Genus handle would be solid and secure. If it isn't, Leatherman will receive a ton of criticism, and the product won't go very far. They would be foolish to let it out on the market with any problems like that.

Especially since it will carry a 25 year warranty like all Leatherman products.  Cheaper to do a little extra R&D than replace tools every 6 months.
