Got a new Flik today
on: March 04, 2010, 09:34:57 AM
Man this thing feels stout!

It's not really that much thicker than many of my other tools but all the pertruding bits make it feel chunky.

Still new but loving it so far.

*except of course the tini tiny bits

Yeah the tools are tiny. I knew they were when I was getting one, but when I have one in hand they were even smaller than I expected.

The tiny weird can opener actually works decently well too.

The drivers are the killer for me.  Shame though as the tool has a couple of features I was quite keen on.

The four outside blades are great though. :) Good length, and outside opening. :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

It's kinda like complimenting a computer for having great word processing capabilities where nothing else works though (if ya get me).  The Flik does do some things well, but having pretty much nigh on useless drivers makes the whole tool therefore, IMO, useless as well.

They are nice and I kind of like the heavy industrial design of the tool itself.

Are the main large tools hard to open an all the Fliks? Mine are really tight and half of the times nearly impossible to get out with one hand.

I tried loosening the pivot screw a little bit but need two torx bits of the same size to do so.

Wouldnt it make more sense instead of two knives on the Flik, to replace the serrated blade with a file?

+1 on the file.

I also would have traded a can opener for a full profile philips driver.

Well while the Flik certainly isn't my favorite multi, and I do agree that the drivers are much too short, I would hardly rate the whole tool as useless. ;)

The fact that it is meant to be a multi-functioning tool without any (IMO) drivers worth a poop makes it useless (again IMO) compared to the many many other options out there.  For me, there is sadly no justification for buying this tool over anything else offered by the competition because half of it's function just simply isn't there.  Shame though because as I previously said, there are a couple of things I really liked.
I'm back!!
