  • Any tool is better than nothing. Some not by much

We buy a lot of canned food from ALDIs. I don't think any of those are pull-top. I use a can opener on pretty much a daily basis. Most of the time it's a dedicated heavy-duty one, but sometimes, just for fun, I use a multitool.

A can opener on SAKs and MTs might be more tradition than straight function, for the space on the tool, I think it should be kept.

As a side note, I've also found that a MT can opener and Awl is about all you need to convert empty cans into a wood-gassifier stove.

On a totally different note regarding the can openers.

I recently needed to remove a company logo that had been stitched onto a work jacket from a place I used to work for. The jacket in question is one of the superb "snicker" brand items - fantastic quality, but very expensive. The jacket was part of the annual issued uniform upgrades - but never actually saw any use as the old one I was wearing was still okay.

I then left and took it with me  :D

The wenger can opener was truly faultless as a "picker" probably better than commercially availble pickers. My partner has since used it many times to let down the hem on my ever growing young sons trousers.

It's simply brilliant - Tried the victorinox version, nowhere near as good.

So, another use for the SAK.

Incidently, much is often spoken of what is the purpose of the backside hook on the vic's - I used mine a few weeks ago to lace up tight my nieces rollerboots - worked a treat!!
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.
