I am very impressed by this type of thinking by companies. Why not have a contest where the public can send in their ideas? Sure, 99.999 percent will be useless, but there is the odd chance you will be able to salvage something and use it in one of your products. It will make your customer base feel valued and important, and will also show your flexibility in listening to, and incorporating a good idea, regardless of where it came from.

Nice to know what came of it at least! I'm glad it worked out well from LM's perspective, and I'll be interested to see how they incorporate some fresh thinking into their new tools.

I can understand them not wanting to divulge the details, but wouldn't it be interesting to see the winning designs?
