New EDC/backup driver .
on: March 09, 2010, 02:17:48 AM
Just got a Kline 10 fold , the folding version of the famous Kline 10 in one driver . It's a solid little pup , drivers lock open with a thick steel liner lock . Capabilities include t10 and t15 ( Torox ) , Green and Red Robertson , #1 and #2 phillips , 3/16 , and 1/4 slotted , 1/4" and 5/16 nut drivers . I have used 10 in one drivers as backups in tool kits for years , great bits of kit . The folder is just a bit easier to carry .

Amazon has several different configurations. Looks pretty nifty, found a YouTube on one.

They seem to be going for about $22 shipped...not bad, but do standard 1/4" bits fit also?

Steyrman, do you plan on making a sheath for this thing?

From Amazon: "Contains 5/16" & 1/4" nut drivers"

So it looks like the answer is yes on accepting 1/4" bits. It also looks like there are five different configurations depending on what you need.

Kewel!    They are $19.96 shipped here.
I would have preferred a couple of more flat blade and Phillips screwdrivers instead of the square drive bits.

The double ended driver bits resemble those in old the Sears/Schrade multitool.

How much does it weigh?

Length is 4.25" closed , weight I don't know ( no scales ) . It relies on ball detents , not magnets , so some  1/4 hex bits might be a problem . Double ended bits with a ball detent are easy to find . Spare bits are available from Kline .

The beast is plenty strong , far superior to any Multi or SAK driver . It would team up well with a Cybertool , Mrs. Kline for the bigger stuff , the Vickie for the small stuff .

Build quality is very nice , it will not substitute for the "Bag O Drivers " , but is a nice adjunct for diagnostics , and EDC use .

I do plan to make a sheath for it , it is currently languishing in an old SOG Paratool pouch .

On a side note , I would love to see a Vic./Kline collaboration - a Spirit or Swisstool with drop forged carbon steel plier head , and Phillips . I know , dream on !

I use the non- folding version almost daily.  1/4" bits will work but 1" bits are going to be short.  also no magnets so the bits need the bearing to lock in. The ace hardware  near me sells replacement bits pretty reasonable.  I wish some one would copy the old  :pok:schrade tool and put one of these arms in an MT again

I have three of the Original 10 in ones , stashed in different kits and tool boxes . They work well. Their is also a 5 in one and the new 11 in one . The folding tool also comes in Hex and metric hex . Kline stuff has always served me well , I highly reccomend them .

They also have a couple of renditions of the Electrician's scissors made in stainless .
