Now this looks like a great idea to me.

Having the tool securely attached exactly where you expect to find it seems like the most sensible placement in a genuine emergency, which is what this type of tool is all about after all. They don't seem to be available yet so we'll have to hold judgement on whether they have got it right or not

Tragically we didn't get a chance to play with this one at SHOT this year, so I really don't know much about it.  I would like to get my hands on one and see if it's any good- I agree- hooking it on a seatbelt is a good way to ensure it's handy when you need it, although I wonder if it would hold on well enough so you could find it while dazed, in shock or upside down in a car, whether it would slide around on the belt and annoy you into tossing it out the window, or whether it would poke you pretty good in the event of a sudden stop.

My preference is still to put things like that on the sun visor....

One tidbit of warning:  with how secondary school campuses in the US are, students and faculty would probably be better off without the tools, seeing how the bloody "zero-tolerance" policies would probably be stupidly applied into saying the "cutting edge" is worthy of the "ZOMG!!!!  BALEET TEH STUDENT!!!!" response. -_-

I am curious about seeing reviews on it, though; if they're favorable, I may just get one for myself. *nods*

Haha yeah that window breaking pic is one of the worst photoshops ever.

It is a good idea, but my first thoughts were the same as Def's.

Its a good idea to have a rescue tool fixed in a easy reach position because things get thrown around the cabin in an accident but would this one on the seat belt be more trouble then its worth . In day to day use would it keep catching on clothes etc.

Not sure I agree Dunc - I think for precisely this reason - having it on the belt would be perfect. A cutter would get thrown around if you have it somewhere else - eg tucked into visor, in a dashboard or door pocket, glovebox  etc - It could end up anywhere.

My only concern would be how easy it is to get on and off the belt? Actually just off the belt? 
And how well/quickly does it do the slicing?

I have one, and I have to say, it is probably the only tool from CRKT I have been disappointed in.  And that includes the Flux.

It's bulky, awkward, feels kind of flimsy and just generally seems like a bad idea.  I'll stick with my Ring Tool/KERT over the Exitool.

Hmm - Yes I was not totally convinced on the Exitool.
The cutter blade seems a bit buried and the whole thing could be awkward to take off hte belt etc.
I knew about the KERT - But kinda liked the glass punch and torch on the Exit.

Since I worote the note I found the ResQme - which seems to have mixed reviews - But does everything.

Probably end up getting a rescue me and a KERT

The ResQMe tool is actually a pretty neat little tool.  I haven't tried to extricate myself from a flaming wreck with it, but it does seem a lot more solid than most of the other rescue type tools out there.

I'm a big fan of the ResQMe tool.  I'm not sure how useful it would actually be, but for under $10 I'm sure it will be a lot more useful than not having one.
