Is LM no longer including the accessories that used to come with their tools?

I saw it somewhere, and wonder if it is just for the US or worldwide, or even true.

Hopefully the prices will go down.......................

True, started August 1!

I imagine that LM went through inventory in the warehouse and opened packages and removed sheaths or bit sets and then return the main product as ready to be shipped.

Product in the distribution channel were not involved. LM’s Amazon store have some remaining, Cabela’s,  ass Pro, Sportsman’s Warehouse, have items on peg boards yet packaged in sets.

Unfortunately, prices appear that there will be no decrease for the less content packaging.

🥲

Some things get better over time, and some get worse.

For my part, Leatherman has not been headed in the right direction for some time.  The Garage 001 > 002 > 003 decline was emblematic of the direction the entire Leatherman enterprise was taking.  Trusted friends (PS4, Juice, etc.) disappeared from the Leatherman website in concert with MSRPs heading north at an alarming rate.  And then they say, "hey, wouldn't it be great if you had to pay extra for a sheath with that $249 ARC"?

Fortunately, I have hoarded enough Leatherman toys over the last 30 years to last 300 lifetimes.  So I can mostly keep my credit card in my pocket going forward.

But it is still sad to see that a company created by an MT guy is no longer run by them.

With the current prices, the least that they could do is put a pocket clip on every tool going forward.

I agree that even though I have less leatherman than some here, I have way more than i can ever use to the point of having to buy a new one.
Imagine prices in Europe and rest of the world ($353 for the Arc), and that just adds insult to injury.  And prices on the secondary market are also crazy.
Now I understand prices going up, especially if you keep the same quality. And I understand most people only buy one tool every 30 years. It's just that there is no way I can justify (to myself, and even less to my SO) spending that kind of money…

If Leatherman decided to leave them out so they didn’t have to raise the price of the multitool to compensate for the rising cost of imported nylon sheaths, then they made the right decision.   :tu:

You are correct with your assessment!

However, LM hinted that the reason was that many sheaths were not the first choice of consumers.

Other choices were preferred, and this move coincided with their release of the pocket slips in varying sizes, that are reasonably priced and the leather models are UsA made as well as optional pocket clips.

A better move for LEATHERMAN, and yet can be implemented, is to provide a Leatherman STORE CREDIT, online to the email account of the new tool owner when they REGISTER, the purchase on their site.  $10, $15, or $25 depending on the purchase price of the product bought.

Products yet on store shelves, or online at LM distributors still have the sheaths, just read the product description carefully or call before ordering.

This one subject, LM would have been smart and stepped forward to explain the date and reason for the new policy. They did not, a SNEAKY PETE type move.

I wonder how much the new brilliant import tariffs have increased the price of these sheaths. I do not think LM would have
HAD to increase the prices noticeably to compensate for that increase.

I understand that they also stopped supplying other accessories that came with their tools previously and at least some of these were made in the US, I think.

I am sure LM is only looking after our interests, we just do not get it.

Considering that all of my Leathermans are under warranty for virtually my entire life, the company remaining strong and profitable is in my best interest.   :tu:

And I was just feeling pretty good about being an insider to make certain I had extended warranty to 40 years!
Now, I got to worry about Tim Leatherman heirs not mismanaging the future.

There are a lot of manufacturers out there that are trending the same way. Leatherman has certainly missed a step or two along the way; discontinuing popular items and bringing out tools that answer a question nobody asked. I get it, if a line doesn't meet a certain sales level, it gets cut. But charging WAY more for your exisitng product line AND bringing out new items that are WAY over priced for what they are is a silly business plan. Just my 2 cents

Cheaping out is still cheaping out.
And it's a slippery slope.

Oh well.  At least my Craftsman tools are still made in USA with a lifetime warranty, and Vermont Flannel still sources and makes the actual fabric here in USA instead of importing fabric and just sewing it here...

Wait, WHAT?!?!

Just a thought, but I'm assuming that the sheaths are not made, or even only sewn together, in the USA. Maybe the tariffs have made these particular items prohibitively expensive to continue to include.
Cheers!

I was just about to pull the trigger on an arc, now that they have taken the bits out and removed the sheath, they don't get my $300 + on principle alone...

Stupid move on leatherman really, very blinded and underhand, as to get the same as before I have to spend an extra $50+

Shame on you leatherman....

The sheaths get a label marked Made in China.   Best wishes.  G

Edit

Worked out the UK to US conversion $422.10 to get the whole package separately

Old Arc set up worked out at $353.99, so an increase of $68.11 cost to the customer to get what was included before August 1st 2025 (I have not included the pocket clip into these figures)

Shame, shame, shame on you leatherman

Sooo an update on UK side, older stock Arcs are being bought up and disappearing quickly, with some stores (I will not add names....yet!!!), removing bits, pocket clip and sheaths from the older Arc boxes, and selling separately.... shameful.

I as a stand, voted with my money and called out some stores actions.... unfortunately linked credit card has shown my lovely beautiful wife, has bought me an Arc....ahhhh

Fingers crossed she did her research and checked the box???

So, you have an Arc.  Accessories or not, still good.  I imagine you have an extra sheath lying around somewhere.  I agree it is despicable for vendors to swipe from the boxes for a quick profit.  I got lucky with my last Leatherman and got a sheath.  I usually carry a Leatherman in a pocket anyway, but I don't own one of the really huge LMs.
Best wishes,
Gary :multi:

My FRIEND,  your wife is a GEM!!!🤩

Do not fret the box, or the contents.  If she made the decision to take the initiative to make the purchase a GIFT, it is solely a GIFT of LOVE.

It is so sweet!  I am really really envious of you today.

My wife would often do the same thing, either she reallly wanted me to have it, or she was just sick of my obsession and research

My daughter (oldest one), I have now slipped into that role .   Just told what is arriving Christmas, do not buy that before,

Take care!  I love your shares about family life in your part of the world!

I think the part about her using your credit card to buy it went without saying.  We all know the game and how it's played.  Still good anyway.
Congrats on a happy 10.  Best wishes.  Gary :hatsoff:
