Just out of curiosity, how did this story end ?

I'm thinking about buying a new led-light, and the Maglite XL100 was one of the options I've been thinking about (along with the Led Lenser L7).  But then I saw this topic ...

Anyway, one of these days I will start a new topic to get some help in finding the right choice of led-light for me, but for now I'm just curious about the outcome here.

Like Allan has already said, John did eventually get a new light :)

For what it's worth though mate, I think there are much better options out there :) I hate the 3x aaa set up, when you can get almost the same runtime from a single aa cell ::)

Thanks for the replies guys  ;).
Seems like I will have to consider some other options, I didn't even consider a single AA cell light untill now, thanks for the help.

Eric

I got my XL100 on a really great deal  :tu:

I really like it; it is truly a great light. I would never pay full retail on it and only really use the dimmer function. The 3 x AAA setup is an odd one; surely 2 x AA one after the other would have made a slimmer light

My XL100 is used on an almost daily basis along with others and it is currently one of my fave's :D

If you can get it on a great deal then go for it, if not then research for a better light :)

I've been looking in to those, only problem is that I can't seem to find a Fenix dealer anywhere near my home (and I'm not that keen on Buying something from the net, maybe stupid, I know, but I can't help myself  :-[).

Anyway, my wife noticed that I've been looking at a lot of led-lights on the net the last couple of days and when I told her I wanted to go to the local "army-store" to "look at" some flashlights (you guys will surely know that "looking at" very often changes in to buying the damn thing right away, well, my wife surely knew this ... ) she said that she had a surprise for me  :D.

Normally she would have given it to me on fathersday (as a present from my sons), but now she was afraid that I would turn up one day with a new led-light in my hands.

Turns out she had bought me a Led-Lenser P7 (at a decent price, because she had a 20 Euro discount coupon from the store).  And I must say that it looks great, off course there's the fact that it runs on 4 AAA batteries, but that's about the only negative thing I can say about it.  Here's a link to the Led-Lenser site (I hope it's okay to post this link, otherwise, the mods may delete it).

http://www.zweibrueder.com/ENG/produkte/html_highperformance/html_Pserie/p7.php?id=p7

Now, after reading the comments here I'm still looking to buy a single AA led-light as well, but I'm not (yet) going to tell the wife about my plans  :-X.

Maybe I'll post a new topic here in a couple of days/weeks, after the Led-Lenser P7 has seen some action  ;).

Greetings from Belgium,

Eric

Nothing wrong with a LED Lenser Eric, especially as it's a gift. :tu:  I don't know about Belgium (or anywhere else for that matter) but here in the UK there is no chance of walking into a store and picking up a Fenix.  LED Lenser are one of the few 'brands', other than Maglite,  that I know I could go and pick up off a shelf.  I can also think of one or two shops where I could pick up an Inova, but that really is it.

If you're happy with the P7, trust me, you'd be very happy with a Fenix. ;)
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.
