Timbuk2 bags
on: March 06, 2010, 05:14:55 AM
Are there any Timbuk2 laptop or messenger bags with a water bottle holder?  I'm contemplating getting one of their bags when I finally get a netbook, and while it's greatly useful having a water bottle pocket, it's not necessary.  I dunno, am I looking in the correct direction? :/

Hmm, maybe I overlooked it?  I know they offer a soda/beer holder option, but didn't see a water bottle option.  I'll go take a look again.  Thanks Mike. :)

[Edit:  What type of bag did you build, Mike?  Was it a messenger, laptop messenger, backpack, etc?  The laptop messenger route lacks such an option, except for the Beerdaleer.]

Yeah, the only problem is that they've apparently removed the water bottle holder option for the messenger bag, seeing as they only have the aluminum can strap-carry option available, though I know their backpack and tote models have water bottle carry pockets or stash areas. *shrugs*  Looks like I'll have to figure something out. XD

I'm quite liking the idea of the black waterproof fabric for the laptop messenger, though... need to figure out what size laptop or netbook I'm getting first, and which is a necessity, seeing as my apartment bedroom next year won't have enough room for a desktop.  :ahhh

My Timbuk2 bags are EXTREMELY waterproof.  Shockingly so.

If you don't mind opening the flap, I'd just toss a Sigg bottle or flask in.  I do that for cycling and motorcycling.  Never had a Sigg leak yet.

Yeah, I'd not mind tossing a water bottle into the main compartment if I had to, it's just that it'd take up valuable space within the bag - and I've yet to find a bloody bag that can hold either of the two Stainless Guyot water bottles I have. *shrugs*  Plus, one thing I've liked about my Rothco "Jack Sack" Messenger is that I can keep a water bottle on one end and an umbrella on the other, seeing as I always have one of each (both a water bottle and umbrella) with me wherever I take a bag.  Oh well, I can figure something out. :D

When I was looking at the Timbuk2 bags myself I decided on the Commute 2.0 (if I had money). The laptop sleeve is in the rear compartment so it seperates your pooter from the main compartment. That way I could throw a large bottle in there or something. :D

I don't have money though, sooo...

Hey Saz,
I'm late to this one but the commute 2.0 messenger style bag has a water bottle holder.  You can't customize those I don't think.  I actually asked them about that and suggested a "mod" and they responded that it was a good idea and they would "see what they could do".  That was pretty cool.  I love Timbuk2 bags (gee you never would have guessed huh?) I usually hook my water bottle to one of the outside D rings or just throw it in the bag when I'm out and about. It's a little awkward, but so worth it for everything else you get in their bags.  Extremely awesome!  Good luck!

Give me some of your bags! XD

Also, where have you been young lady?! >=(

It's been crazy Froggie...but I hope I'm really back this time.  As for the bag, yes it's big enough for a Nalgene.  Kim's got a medium one.  And no, you can't have any of my bags.  so there!  Well, actually we might be able to talk about that in a couple of months if you are still interested.  :)  Luv ya froggie!

I recently bought my new timbuk2 messenger bag in our nearby stores. Fortunately, the bag that I bought was dealt with my requirements, the features are very flexible. And at the same time it is less expensive.

:tu: I still carry my large all- black classic Timbuk2 messenger around and despite the inner lining of the bag chipping off (which I mended with nylon tape and some sealant) it's still very waterproof and a great manly bag. Hope yours will serve you as well as do mine... Oh, and welcome to the forums, Acepain.
