Which light is good for my pistol?

What is a good but not too expensive light for my gun? Where can I purchase it?There has been a lot of things going missing around the neighborhood. I have a pistol with a rail for a laser or light. I went to my local gun store, where everything was above $350. I live in the San Fernando valley CA.

I have heard good things about the Streamlight TLR-1, but have never actually handled one.

I have a Surefire Scout light , works well , not cheap , recoil doesn't faze it . Simple interface , on off - just the way I like .

For God's sake don't use a weapons mounted lite for general flashlight duties ! Good way to get blown away by the local cops .
