Got a tattoo?

Personally I'd leave shaving to the tattooist, especially on your back.  That way they'll shave what needs to be shaved and they are probably a little more experienced at shaving bodily parts (unless you shave your lega of course  Wink).  The last thing you'd want is a tattoo over a shaving rash.

I say shave yourself, in my experience, Tattooists are Tattooists, and shaving you is not in their interests or skillset - they do it quick and dirty with a cheap razor - any after effects are your problem.

Unless you're too hard to do girly shaving yourself - run yourself a hot bath, light some scented candles, put on some Enya, and treat yourself to a relaxing beauty spa before going to get inked on a hairy spot.

Or, y'know, just hit it with your Mach 3 before you run out the door, whichever works for you. (I obviously go the Enya and scented candles route)

Not sure what dives you have been tattoo'd in ( ) but tattooists in general are experts in not just inking you up, but preparing the area and advising about aftercare as well.  Put it this way, if I had concerns about an artists shaving skills, there's no way I'd let them touch me with a tattoo gun.

I have been tattoo'd by 3 different artists now (one mainly though) and each time they have shaved me, and shaved just the area they needed to.  I certainly wouldn't go doing an area myself that was difficult to reach (like a back for example).

Back to costings BTW and the whole process seems a little random.  Basically each piece is costed on how long it will take them to do and some will charge for a design request as well.  I had a portrait done in black and grey which is about 2.5" by 3.5" which took 45 mins and the artwork was all done by my tattooist and that was £95 to give you an idea.

Try and have a good nose around and see if they have many examples of previous work.  A goodun will be flooded with pics of stuff they have done.  Also, enquire about aftercare.  Mine does free touch ups for 6 weeks after, and if I get a touch up done it extends another 6 weeks (and so on and so on).

Just got back after having a re-touch done on my chest and some slight shading added so that is now all done.  Looking forward to getting my arm completed which is being designed as we speak.

I was just thinking the same thing...I wanna see pics and I have to figure out how to take a picture of the ones on my leg without them being upside down...course I could always flip the pic.  Hmmm...so come everyone...let's see pics!!!

Thanks.  The first 2 (the blue one on top of the design in the top photo) and the yin yang were kind of whims I got when I was being 'rebellious" and decided I wanted a tattoo.  After that, I started thinking about it.    The phoenix in the top picture and the one on my leg (not pictured yet) are my faves.  I really really want one on the inside of my wrist, but i can't because of work.

Ok I'll play.  Sadly the pics are pretty poo which makes everything look really washed out...

First up we have the one on my left arm.  I am a huge Manics fan and got this in tribute;



Here is a portrait of my brother.  The artist did really well with it as the face picture was actually very small;



Next up, on the same arm as my portrait, is my Bro's name and a chinese symbol;



Again, same arm but a symbol meaning Mother;



Right arm again, and was my very first tattoo and was the beginning of my obsession ;



Underneath the same arm again, I have some circuitry as a reminder of my last career;



Here is one showing my whole right arm (circuitry and Mother symbol are on the other side);



And lastly, here is one from the front showing my recent chest tattoo and my hindi writing on my wrist which actually goes all the way around.  If you don't want to see a ridiculously skinny guy look away now!!

I have more planned.  Another one on my right arm and with more tribal to complete it all off is being designed as we speak.  I then have a female samurai design planned for my ribs (right side).[/
