I carried the Swisstool Spirit for a long time last summer and used for small in-house-repairs tool. But it seems that there is some loosening on each of the tools, as well as on the pliers. I will have to send it in for replacing the philipsheadscrewdriver and tightening the whole tool.  :bnghd: :bnghd: :poh:

It sucks somehow as it seems be very well put together; the finish is just superb for a MT. No big use for me for the tool right now. I really have to send it in.

Wow Andi!! That's really unusual for one to do that.   :o

Yes, unusual indeed.

And I doubt that it was due to some hard use. The philipshead on mine was rather soft steel and showed some wear even after some tightened srews. As I said, I doubt I tourqued too hard. The whole tool seems to rattle like cow-tail (as we use to say here).

Maybe I can get it back well repaired and it will last forever that way. But I suspect that I only got a monday´s tool.

I highly regret spending $50 for a new LM Skeletool with Christmas money, when I could  (and should) have gotten a used SwissTool for the exact same price or a little less. The SwissTool seems even heavier duty and  better built than the LM Super Tools.  The Skeletool, on the other hand, has some of the wimpiest pliers I've seen on a full-sized multitool.  Mine's went into the closet in the collection box, and I'm back to using my nearly 20 year old LM PSTII.   The Skeletool is meant for those who probably won't be using them for farm work or anything else that requires a lot of force for that matter, while the SwissTool is made for darn near everything I can throw at it.  Plus, the Swiss Tool has pretty much everything I need--not just a blade, pliers, and a couple flat bits that are nowhere near as good as the fold out drivers or regular, 1/4 bits.

I have a 95 Supertool and wondered how the Swisstool compared.  I've been a lifelong Vic user and have always been intrigued by the Swisstool, but haven't had the spare cash lying around to pick one up.  I'm gonna make the plunge one of these days!

I don't say which is better but on my opinion swiss tool (spirit) is one of the best tools I have used. And big plus that there is a good sheath with own compartments to plus set.

The Swisstool is one of my favorites.  Terrific tool set and love the blunt-ish pliers.  Have a look around the auction site often as you can pick one up reasonably.

I'm hoping to pick one up from there soon.  My son and I were just talking about it last night.  Neither one of us has ever seen one in person, but hope to remedy that soon!

I have one in my truck that I'd be happy to send your way to "test drive"?  Have a play and see if in fact you like it then send it back after you've had your way with it .  Its a hard working tool and IMO should be in everyones collection but this way theirs no cost incurred to you.

PM me and I'll shoot it out ASAP

Normal size bits. You can buy separately, buy some screw driver using bits (often have wide set of bits included). Hardware stores and big markets usually have wide selection. I actually use 4 included bits and others replaced. So having 4 hex and 6 torx at the moment. Example:

(this for electric screw driver / drill. Set costs from under ten upwards).

A good kit SG, I have the bits and ratchet in my small tool bag that goes from whatever vehicle/machine that I'm on at any given time. I also have a set of driver bits which effectively turns the kit into a small socket set. The LM bit extender accepts the standard 1/4" drive bits also.  :tu:

Some sort of driver belt is what I need :) Would go with vic plus and with LM adapter. Maybe should look some ammo belt where use bits instead ammo. Bits are not large but good carry option (with MT) is harder to find. Maybe I am just too picky with carry items.

Congrats SG.  There are so many options for bits and sockets that will suit the Vic L wrench.  The hard part will be how to carry all those options  :D

Thx Aloha!! Will those options work with the ratchet as well? Mine has that and an extender.

The ratchet and extension are excellent, they fit all standard 1/4" bits. I used my Spirit and ratchet/bit kit to tune up a big set of cabinets in a new kitchen, even using the awl to start pilot holes, and the extension on the handle end of the ratchet for some hard to reach screws. If you outfit the kit with all the bits you need for what you normally run into, it's a great setup and very compact.  :)

I really don't see why not especially when ratchet it combined with extender.   I love being able to use sockets with my L wrench.  I also use a Snap on 1/4 breaker bar as well that works outstanding.  I'll get pics up shortly.
