Is there somewhere tool desing changes of SwissTools, i know plier heads but other tools like file, awl, wire stripper on combotool, RS blade serrations (also notice MXBS has RS balde diffrent side than regular RS), small flathead, ( also can opener differences but i believe it happened to all vics with can opener.
I know these are small changes but still noticable differences.
Now i bit regret i sold 1 of my SwissTool away, i could see was there desing changes between models (spearpoint serrated blade)

Edit: also Large Screwdriver has small changes bewel lenght is diffrent.
Also obvious is corckscrew hole

G'Day,

SwissTool Rescue day yesterday!!!

I found a well (ab)used SwissTool locally on Thursday. The sale also included a Swiss Campion, but that one was in a much better condition, just very dirty. Both were had for reasonably cheap. The Swisstool was dirty, the small screwdriver turned 90 degrees, so much that I could not open it or the two adjacent tools and the leather pouch torn both sides towards the back. I figured, if I could not get the small driver straightened I could always get Victorinox to repair the tool for me. I don't like exchanging old tools for new, and are always willing to pay for the repair costs.
A warm soapy solution took care of all the dirt and some oil for the pivots. The blades were scratched and very blunt, Sharpmaker took care of the bluntness and some metal polish for most of the scratches. Both blades are now shaving sharp but still have some of the scratches left.
Next up was trying to fix the small driver. The boy-child and me heated the tip up and gently tapped it to straighten it. We took it slowly and repeated it a few times. I did not want to heat it up to much and mess with the hardness of the steel. The heating worked very well and I got it near perfect. Then onto sanding the edges and making it usable again, and finally some polish for the finish. It now works as it should, but due to the sanding it is slightly larger that what the factory size was. There are still some marks on it and the colouration of the heating process. Tested it on a few screws and it will do the job perfectly. I can just imagine what force was required to bend it that bad. Surely when a screw does not move and the tool does, one should stop and re-assess the situation. Maybe not awl should have access to tools...

Then the pouch... Out came the leather stitching stuff and I restitched the rear section back together. Some leather conditioner and the pouch is ready for another few years of service.

This was a very rewarding day, as I managed to get the tool back into a usable state. It is going under the seat of the new bike.

Some pics of the tool together with another recued tool and a new one.

Cheers, Pete

Another SwissTool X, love these things. The pouch is very cracked, but I have another if I choose to use the tool. I'm not a fan of horizontal pouches at all.

How does this black coating compare to the BO from leatherman? On some videos it looks like it is more shiny, But some (Australian Army) look also BO. Ik love the BO from Leatherman but am not really a fan of the shiny black. To me that takes away the 'tactical' feeling of a tool.

SwissTools have shiny BO compared to LM matte BO

Does anyone know about this type of 'sheeth'? It seems more like a holder. I see this for sale on amazon and the price is right for about $110. I was also offered a series 1 (the one with the red label) of the Swiss tool X plus (with the ratchet) but with scissors instead of the serrated blade for $90. The one from amazon had the serrated blade. It's personal I know, but are the series one getting rare? Maybe just add it to the collection....wrong place to ask this I know.

Well, my last Swisstool was one whit the Straight Scales a few decades ago, so i though it might be a good idea instead of pocketcarry an Cybertool L + an Roxon Flex Plier to order me an Swisstool Spirit X + whit the Ratched and Extender as it should work as one tool for everything ..  + the Clip ..

The old Swisstool got also an Bitset back then, and i can remember that it was the same Bitsize as normal 1/4 Inch Bits, so easy have a few more .. i wonder if the ratched Bit Set is the same, and not these Minibits from the Cybertool ..

Unfortunally i did lost the Bitset of the old Swisstool when someone stole my Mountainbike a few decades ago ;(

I did a few weeks ago try to open all tools on my old Swisstool, and after a bit of force using, they fold still out ^^

I did use today the PaketOpener at work, after a few hours you get used to where all the Tools are located ^^ , Did work at least that nice than whit the Roxon PaketOpener, but this time its an Combotool whit Isolation Cutter ..  ..
Its still full of the Oil which is common for new Victorinox Tools ..

I will only Carry the SwissTool and the Minichamp now, the Roxon Flex Companion stays in my Backpack . ..

Apropos Roxon: The Swiss Tool is a bit thinner than the Roxon Flex Plier, booth got Room for 5 Foldouts on every side ..

Sadly my OVP got crashed during deliefery, Amazon got its issues whit Victorinox OVPs ..

Maybe an Board Organisations Question: Which Threads can i now use whit the Spirit X ? Is it sutuable for "What did your SAK today" , and "Post of your SAK Outside" ? Or would the have to go to an dedicated Multitool Thread?
