Leatherman Universal Tool Adaptor
on: July 25, 2007, 11:56:42 AM
hi guys
def in your review of this tool adapter
you said it fits the core
is this true
and if so which is better
the uta or just the Leatherman Removable Bit Driver
as the manual for the core and also the web site say the removable driver is for the core
can you post a picture of the uta on a core as i would like to get one
also which is better to carry on your hip and which one has the most uses
cheers paul

I don't have both, so I really can't say which is better.  Bear in mind the weight issue though- you'll be looking at close to half a kilo with the UTA and the Core on your belt.  That having been said, I was really fond of the UTA, but the clip on the case is plastic, and although it's held up well so far, I am just waiting for the day when it goes missing.

The good news is that you can carry whichever bits you like since it accepts standard 1/4" bits.  I keep some long shanked bits around (about 4" or so) for those jobs that multis normally aren't good for because they don't have the reach of a dedicated screwdriver.  If you have the same pancake type sheath that I have, they tuck nicely inside next to the Core.  If you don't have the same sheath, and don't mind buggering up the aesthetics a bit, you can wrap an elastic band or two around the leather sheath and slide the longer bits in so you always have them handy.

Personally I don't mind the extra weight- I have a few too many half-kilos extra of my own anyway.  I figure if I eat a little less then that will make up for the weight of the tools!

They aren't as nice as Drew's pics, I know, but I hope these do the job for you.  If there were any other pics you had in mind, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

If you don't mind waiting a bit, I'd suggest using some of our banner advertisers on the main site.  www.EDCDepot.com and www.felinevet.sosakonline.com can both provide whatever you need, and at much better than retail prices.  If you don't see what you want listed in their stores, email them.  Marc and Tim are great guys to deal with.

Not only do I fins stuff for you to spend your money on, I also make it easier for you to part with it!  We are a full service forum, unlike the dirty buggers at www.g-forces.com who just show you the nice stuff they got and not tell you how to get it!

The only thing worse than someone who enables an addiction is someone who doesn't!  :ahhh

That's where you are in luck.  As a bloody foreigner myself (I'm Canadian- shhh, don't tell anyone!) I make it a point to only advertise for dealers that will ship outside of the US.

Now I can't speak for either of these fine gentlemen, but I would feel safe in saying that if you covered the extra shipping costs, either of them would happily ship to you.

Well we have the ice thing, and we also have good beer and hockey.  I really don't know what else one would need for a fulfilling life!   ;D

Offshore drilling is a huge industry in my neck of the woods, and if you go about 5,000 kms west of where I am they pay pretty good to drill into nice, flat land.

If you liked US Football, you'll love Canadian Football.  It's basically the same game, except our field is 100 meters instead of a 100 yards (longer field for those of you who don't speak metric!) and the ball is fatter and more rounded so it doesn't fly as far!  Much more challenging, plus the players are more into the game because they don't make $500 million/season!

Well I hope you make sure to come to the right end- it'd be a day trip by jet if you found yourself on the wrong side!

If you follow the NHL, that new player, Sydney Crosbie, who is breaking records right, left and center, grew up a few houses away from my in laws.  He used to destroy my brother in law when they'd play road hockey!

Never mind then! :P

Do folks play hockey in Oz?  I can't think of any players we ever heard of up here that were from down there, nor do I ever remember much about the Australian Olympic Hockey Team...
