Having a nice evening...
on: April 06, 2010, 09:58:21 PM
The kids are asleep, there is sod all on the box so I am sitting here, drinking a beer and servicing a nice couple of vintage Ronson lighters. Tool of choice is actually a Swisschamp as I wanted small pliers and the tiny screwdriver.

Any other vintage lighter tinkerers out there?  Got any fave oldies?
I'm back!!

I used to strip Zippo's and the like all the time when I was at work (running petrol station's at the time :D) but I prefer ferro rod's and the like these day's, and they don't take much looking after :-\
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

I don't think so- although to be honest I didn't put that much effort into it.  Since I don't smoke (at least not regularly) I fiddled with it a bit and decided I'd rather keep it as is and appreciate it as a special gift from a good friend.

Doing the same again this evening.  Tonight I am working on 2 old Ronson lighters and glugging on a nice big bottle of San Miguel.
I'm back!!

  OK what is it?  My best guess would be a candle fits in the long tube and matches go in the little one.

You're right :o  :tu:

It's a pocket Vesta case with a self-feeding candle holder.

It was a form and function thing.  Nothing else made sense.

I am so tempted to make one.  Wouldn't be as posh but it'd be cool  8)

That would be a very interesting project :tu:

I saw it on ebay.uk a few years back and saved the photos because it was so interesting. These are the last two showing the match strike and maker's name.

I think I'd have a look around for suitable small diameter candles and size the tubing based on that.
