Airport Security and Customs
on: April 10, 2010, 10:42:35 PM
I'm just packing my case for a trip to Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia; I'm off to see the Orangutans!
For work I often fly from the UK to Ireland with a bag full of tools no problem, I declare it at the check in, they send me to the Oversized lugage and they x-ray it in front of me, Happy days.
I'm not sure what to do with my LM wave in my holiday case though, does anyone have any experience of carrying blades in and out of airport security and customs? have you ever had them confiscated? I'd hate to louse it, it's brand new, but what's the point in a MT if you dont carry it around just-in-case!

I guess if you can justify it's use, it's presence in your check in luggage won't be a problem mate... just don't try to hand carry it with you, just in case of security checks (especially in Singapore) it would be probably 'retained for inspection'. ::)

I normally fly domestically but I imagine as long is it is legal in the country you are leaving and the one you are arriving in there shouldn't be an issue  :)

make it damn hard to get to in your checked luggage. I travel quite a bit at work (domestic) and i hide my wave in the frame of my luggage between the liner and the outer shell.   14 air flights last year and no problems....even at Atlanta, La Guardia, and JFK

checked luggage that is

on a side note my farmer was in my laptop bag and it went thru on my carry on...not intentional though...my laptop bad has a million pockets on it and i missed it.  Makes you wonder what else gets missed....scary thought.

I have always wondered why they let laptops on in the first place, it wouldn't be hard to turn a li-ion battery into an incendiary device.

So long as it's in the hold there isn't a problem.  This Heathrow guide seems to cover the do's-and-don'ts pretty comprehensively.

I wonder how hard would it be to turn a CD and electrical tape into a weapon.
