Spyderco Ultra-fine Rods

I've been looking at getting a set of these and was wondering who uses them.
1) do you need 2?  For some reason they only sell them by the piece (1)
2) Are they worth it?
The sharp maker seems fine to me but the quest for the ultra sharp I'm wondering how much better they get the edge.

I actually don't like to use ultra fine rods as they tend to polish the edge too much.  Yes, the edge is sharp, but it doesn't seem to cut very well as the micro serrations are too small to get much of a bite on whatever you are trying to cut.

I have used ultra fine stones in the past and I like the look of the edge- with the bevel finished to almost a mirror polish it's an excellent way to sell a knife, but for actual use it leaves a lot to be desired, at least in my books.

I'm ok with the regular fine stones :)

I think the ultra fine stones are probably a bit overkill
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

I got a pair on the cheap a while back.  I agree with Def, they really do polish well but are probably a bit excessive for day to day use.

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

You will not really need two. You can use just one and switch sides, but it is faster and more convenient to use two of them.

I sold mine, they are nice to have, but I never needed a mirror polished edge.
