i thought the bits were a bit tougher then MT steel?

They are tool steel, and harder than the rest of the tool, but any cutting disk will go through them like butter.  I just suggested dremel because it is small and you have a greater dexterity than a 3 inch cutting disk.

i find my dremel grinds pretty much everything, great little tools  :tu:

I love mine, don't know what I would do without it.

for a long time i built custom diecast models and the dremel is a really handy tool for this,

Those are sweet, Zed!  I used to build model ships, but I got out of it when my son was born.  Too many small pieces around the house.  I have to keep my hobbies contained to the garage.

cheers mate , i built mainly muscle cars and movie stuff, and i built a lot of general lee's  :D

here are some of the 30 year old tin plate charger i did , i loved getting these as most was in very poor shape, the end one was being stripped down at that time of this pic, the F&F charger was one of my favorite projects i did, these are very big 1:16th scale,

My favorite was the Cutty Sark clipper.  I built two of these, but neither survived a cross country move.

I`d get the Topeak Mini Ratchet Rocket and buy some descent standard bits.
The leatherman bitholder is nice if you dont have anything alse around but the Mini ratchet is the screwdriver i use most at home.

If you want a wave and dont know what to do whith the screw driver, just modify it to hold t-shank blades. That way you can add some really nice saws to your wave.
T - `cause i like tea :)

The rigging can be quite frustrating.  It can take a week by itself.  It used to take me about two weeks to get all the parts trimmed, painted, and assembled.  Then it took a few days to trim the sails and hang them, after that the rigging goes on.  I would love to do another, but I just don't have time right now.  Not much MT use on these though, all I used was an exacto knife and scissors.

I built a Cutty Sark when I was a teenager, it was detailed down to the crew with different color eyes and facial hair, it did not come with sails, so I made my own.  My younger brother used it for BB gun practice when went in the service.  Something for which I could never forgive him.

That sucks.  I had to toss one of mine in the garbage because there was just no way to package it for our move.

Thanks mike!  To be clear, the ship in the picture is not my model, I just built two exactly like it.  The one in the picture was done by a pro with incredible detail.  Mine were almost that good!  ::)

I would love to see her in person after they are done restoring her.  I would also love to see her sister, the City of Adelaide, restored, but it seems no amount of money can stop the inevitable scrapping.

You'd think that being the oldest of her kind still around, someone powerful enough would restore her.  If we lose the Cutty Sark as well, that will be a large part of sailing history relegated to books.
