Lucky Police Officer
on: April 24, 2010, 02:59:33 AM
http://billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/montana/vmix_cdf93fba-47ca-11df-9f5c-001cc4c002e0.html

IF THE FIRST SHOT HAD GONE OFF, HE WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE BEEN KILLED !!!
Routine traffic stop in Montana turns ugly.  Listen for the first "click"
as the driver pulls and points the gun at the Trooper....41 Magnum
Revolver...the "click" is the hammer dropping on an already fired round
in the cylinder...the second one was live.  Very Lucky Trooper!  Suspect was
hit in back while driving away and died on scene after crashing into a
building WHICH SAVED THE STATE LOTS OF MONEY AND KEPT A LAWYER FROM GETTING RICH..
Why do I carry a 45 ?
Because they don't make a 46 !

Don't have a problem with it, I am sorry that the driver was an idiot and I feel for his family but the officer acted within reason.

Wow! Just goes to show you how dangerous a police officer’s job is.

I will say, that magnum was a canon compared with that the office shot back with.

I think the driver was lucky- if his gun had gone off and he`d killed the cop, he would have been so screwed.  Or, if he`d gotten away without any lead in his noggin, he`d have been hunted down and been screwed still for trying to kill a trooper.

He got off easy.

He did not get off easy.  He did get what was coming to him though. I believe eodtech stated that he was hit from behind and died on scene after having an accident.

Easy one dead Officer , and then the armed response plonkers would shoot some innocent old age pensioner carrying a vase or table leg under his coat !

It's kinda unlikely you'd have found a drunk driver with a hand cannon ready to shot in the first place, thankfully.

No doubt that's a lucky cop, and under the circumstances it's hard to see what else he could have done. :salute:

Living for a few minutes with a bullet wound is a lot better than he deserved, and as a guy who either killed or tried to kill a police officer, he would have had a very rough time during his stay at Club Fed.

I think I counted 14 rounds.
14 chances for justice in my opinion.

Police- So glad we have 'em, but don't think I could ever be one.

The problem with showing a video like this is it shows how vulnerable a police officer really is during a "routine" traffic stop.  If it hadn't been for a misfire, the driver may have gotten away- admittedly not for long as his plate number/vehicle were recorded, but I think it shows others how easily this kind of thing could be done.

I hope it doesn't inspire other jackasses to try the same thing.

The driver probably wouldn't have crashed if he'd taken out the officer with the first shot....
