Wave!
on: April 25, 2010, 10:27:55 PM
Hey all,
Had a gift card from REI so kind of wanted a multi tool and thought the wave looked cool. So I ordered it and it showed up yesterday. That is a really nice tool. I don't know a lot about multi tools but this thing is nice-I am now a big fan.

I have my 4th wave coming.  Maybe I'll keep this one for awhile.  I have a long history of Love/Hate with the new wave.  My first was perfect F/F, but I couldn't get used to the little pinch point.  From there it gets fuzzier, but I remember loving my last one until I needed funds for bills and bye bye shiny wave, hello old beat up Blast.

I have one now, an ALX, but the dual bit drivers aren't as useful as I thought they would be.  I really like the TTI, I just can't afford it right now.  That's why I snatched up that Wave from you, so I could get scissors back until I could order a TTI.  The ALX is perfect in every other way though, it is actually one of the best quality LM's I have ever seen.  Not a flaw on it.

I'm awaiting the arrival of a new Charge TTI any minute now. At first, I didn't care much for the cap crimper, but that has grown on me and I really like the looks of the Titanium scales so I'm giving one a try. I actually almost got an ALX instead because I desired the double bit-driver,  but the deal-breaker there is you lose the large slotted driver which I've always found terribly useful on my Wave. I'd almost rather they ditch the can-opener on the ALX and keep the slotted driver.

Back to the TTI, if I like this as much as I anticipate, next on my list will be one of the Cabellas camo & bo TTI's. I happen to like the 'woodsey' looking camo designs and the sheath it comes with looks to be a good one.

Right now I think I would settle for any version of the TTI.  I would really prefer the plain version, but if the right trade came along I would swap the ALX for it, with some sweeteners if I could come up with them.  The Wave will just have to do for now, actually one of the reasons I want to switch is the large slotted driver as well.  It is awesome.  That stupid can opener MUST be on every model for some reason, as if we couldn't get into a can with any other tool.  If I could mod my ALX I would put scissors and the large slotted driver in place of the can opener and the small bit driver.

Yeah, for a line of tools (charge) that have rather minor variations to them already, you'd think they would swap around tools more.
