For Allan: A tool tale in 5 parts :)
on: April 27, 2010, 05:52:13 PM
Everybody is out waiting fot the Pulse to arrive... (and the BO ST to depart... a sinister chuckle is heard from the back of the room :P)

The pulse lands...
- "Hi there BO ST dude!"
- "Goodmorning Pulsey... Got to fly. You have a nice stay, will ya?"

... and meets with old relatives.
- "Yo cousins wazza... :D"
- "Welcome old bean!"

In the meanwhile, the honorary Swiss guard accompanies their departing member...

And it's on its way, all alone in the voids of the Post Offices...  :-\

I love its form, factor, and component loadout.

First thoughts: Tool clamping can be a bit annoying from times to times (as is the case with all older tools anyway), but it sometimes is a necessary evil; for example, there is no other way of opening the Phillips driver, as its nail nick is completely hidden by the can/bottle opener when closed. Having rolled handle edges means no pain when squeezing hard, but also translates to an extra (otherwise useless) couple of mm's in width. The lock system (ST-like) is quite simple and (as such) seems quite robust. The one I got has probably seen some use (only has very minor use marks) but that's to the better as it's been so well broken in, that opening/closing the pliers and tools feels as smooth as some of my folders w/ phospor-bronze bushings. Bottom line: since LM hasn't completely departed from the all-inside-components field, I really can't see why they've discontinued this great tool. ???

Funny.  :D

Can you imagine if our wives or girlfriends happen upon this post?   I can just hear the "you
guys gotta get a life" and then get passed the honey do list that just got a lot longer. :D

Great job though!  :tu:

Well... my GF just "bumped" on it... :-X Her first reaction was something along the lines of "::)"... Then she said she felt sad for the ST being taken away from its friends and family and now travelling all alone to a new home, and that she thought the whole story was somewhat melancholic and depressing... ??? Meh... women... :P :D

Hehe... (or should I say "hexhex"... :P) I might as well try that Chacko mate. ;)

Speaking of happy tools, did I mention that the BO Spirit S (the "scaled down" version of the departing guy) actually bit me (first time ever) as I was setting the tools up for the shots? I guess it wasn't happy with its older brother being traded away for an LM... :D

As a sidenote, although the Pulse packs a lot of function in a small footprint, it still is no match for the size and tool density of a Spirit (don't mean to compare those two... just saying...) :-\

After a long hard journey the BO Swisstool finally reached it's destination in the cold north by sundown..
It was properly welcomed by the other Big Boys of Schwitzerland.
For some reason these guys don't see SAK's as MultiTools, so they weren't invited..    :D

The LM's And SOG's didn't raise as much as a eyebrow, 'cause they knew they'll never be outnumbered by the Swiss..  ;)

Thanks Nikos..

Yay!

I see the BO ST is in good (and familiar -- my other ST is the same age plier head as yours) company... I just hope this will also make this whole story less depressing and melancholic for some people... ::) :D
