Caspian Pocketsmith II in Tactical Knives
on: July 31, 2007, 11:53:30 PM
It seems that the multitool bug is indeed getting bigger and more prominent- this is the second issue in a row that TK magazine (NOV 2007 issue, on newsstands now) has featured a multitool in a full spread article.

Good timing too, as I was just recently asking about this one in the General Forum!

Up until now, on those rare occasions when I do see a multitool article in a major outdoors or sporting magazine, it is usually some sort of a silly shoot-out thing. They put a Leatherman Wave, a Victorinox Pioneer SAK, a Gerber Nautilus, and a SOG Paratool up against one another in a feature-by-feature comparison. The info is pretty worthless, then they conclude by saying that all four devices are great, just pick the one that suits you best.  ::) (They don't want to offend any advertisers.)

Good to see that Tactical Knives is starting to feature multitools in mainstream articles.
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Well the industry is starting to head a little bit away from the old Rambo Ninja stuff that it used to be, and I for one am glad.  The world doesn't need another SWAT knife, when most discerning SWAT members likely carry multitools or SAKs to begin with.  The most amusing parts of all these combat oriented SWAT knives is that SWAT teams never fight at knife point... They use snipers and eight man teams equipped with ballistic shields, short burst autos like MP5's and grenade launchers loaded with smoke and flash bombs.  If a SWAT officer ever had to use his knife to take someone out, I'd bet the officer in charge of the operation would be in deep doo doo.

At any rate, I wonder if they know how unfortunate a name like Tactical Knives is, especially considering that the majority of the articles are about outdoors themes?  Can you tactically hunt deer?
