The idea, I had in my head about pictures of tools helping, didn't resolve as imagined. But, in their lackluster state, here they are; for whatever they're worth.

Three different PowerAssist Stampings(two variations of the early one and one of the newer one).

Four PowerLocks. Two variations of the early stamping and two different later versions.

Five different PowerLock/Assist pliers heads. Two variations of the earlier version and three other castings.

Three different PocketPowerPliers.

Three PPP pliers heads(two variations of the early one and one later casting) pictured with the PT-510 pliers head.

Lots of variations GLBM. Yours pics are clear enough so we can document these differences. I’ll cross-reference what’s in the MT Encyclopedia to see what lines up and if there are discrepancies.  :tu:

Many thanks for you work with all of this, Max!

It is really cool to see some SOG information being uncovered.  :)
SOG is really the only brand board-represented on MT.o that lacks a strong information base. :ahhh
Oh course, SOG doesn't make it easy with their lack of records and information.

The brochure that came with the PP lists the “P2” (Power Plier), the “P3” (Pocket Power Plier), Paratool (“Another great design from the team of Blackie Collins and Spencer Frazer”), the ToolClip and the Micro ToolClip. This brochure pre-dates the Internet, so a great informative reference. Difficult to photograph because of reflections and size. Will need to be scanned. I’m certain we can add some good info to build out the encyclopedia.  :tu:

That is the oldest brochure for SOG MTs I've seen. :o
Looking forward to the scan.

Got a new to me SOG PowerLock in black oxide. Came in pretty good shape. Just needed a good cleaning and some WD-40. Didn’t come with a sheath so I am going to have to look for one.

That is a an uncommon one, JonesE! :like:

The piano locks weren't used for long on the early PowerLock 2.0 versions before going back to the solid lock lever. USA made too(indicated by the hex bolts). :)

Thanks for the info on the PowerLock GLBM. I didn’t realize the piano locks were that rare.

Great job finding a very nice Master Mechanic PPP. It sure looks nice.

SOG tools may be a bit finnicky, but I think they are still worth considering when buying a Multitool.  :)

Finally got a very early SOG PowerPlier V.1. I have a V.1 already, but it is a later one with the nail holes. The early one has the nail nicks, and I had been looking for one for a long time. Bought this one "used", but it had no issues aside from needing a cleaning.
The V.1 I had already will see some pocket time now, since it has light signs of use.  :woohoo:

Necro boost....
I have got a treat for you. I've recently found a PowerPlier I couldn't quite place. It's an early V1, but with different features.
- The logo stamping is different and on the right face handle on both sides is a stamp indicating "BOTH HANDLES 9" or 22,5cm"
- On the plierhead the nose is slightly thinner and the upper teath is smoother and less visible to the later V1 counterpart.
- A larger gap under the compound leverage is noticable on the older prototype.
- Finally the ruler on the older prototype starts from the edge of the slipjoint instead of the tool end.

I've emailed Spencer Frazer about it.
He responded and said:
"Hihi .    You have the first series of Powerplier where the engraving was somewhat crude.  We refined it many times.  I don’t think it is more exceptional than that but it definitely is a cool piece and represents our early endeavors in the multi tool industry.  Thx for reaching out.  Sf"

He called it a crude piece XD. To him it's an unfinished product not worthy of being proud of.

First of all, welcome to MTO .

What a great first post, and what a great find  :o.

It's always great when you get to know some "inside info" on a new tool, and certainly when it turns out to be quite something special.

I found this beauty a while ago (see pic), not as special as yours, but to find a SOG over here is already quite special, and to find one of the old ones, new in box is a one in a million deal over here, so I was really happy that I was the one who  stumbled upon it  :D.

Does anyone can help me dating those three twitch II ?
The first one predates the patent validation (or is around it) so I suspect it to be from 2005-2010 (But maybe it could be narrowed down a little more?)
I bought the middle one in 2013
The last one is more recent, but still I don't know when did SOG change to the current the logo ? 2015? 2017?
