Just got a used Paratool
on: April 29, 2010, 11:08:31 PM
Today I took delivery of a used Paratool I bought on Ebay.  I really like it!  It is a lot lighter than my Swisstool and thinner than my Gerber MP400.  I didn't like the chisel ground knife, but a few minutes with a coarse stone worked wonders and the blade is scalpel sharp with the exception of a small nick (which I hope will disappear in time with further sharpening).

It did come w/ a broken bottle opener.  I have a new one ordered from SOG and also ordered a serrated line cutter from Knifecenter.

I also now can appreciate what the term 'fiddly" implies.

BTW, this stuff IS a sickness.  Up until a couple weeks ago I just had one Multi.  Now I have four, along with four SAKS!

Congrats on your Paratool

One of my favourite SOG multis the Paratool. Odd thing, but nice and pocketable!
I used to come here a lot.

In a good way, or a kind of weird way? ;)

Well, I don't know really! It seemed like a witty comment when I typed it, but not so much now  :P

I guess you were thinking about acquiring one! Do it - they're a unique tool and a bit of a change from the normal butterfly opening :)

They definitely have the fiddly / wow factor IMO :)

Here's my blog entry with some pics if you need some help making your mind up! http://mtblog.org/index.php/davescollection/2009/09/24/sog-paratool

I'm a bit critical of it as an EDC option in that article actually, I was probably just in a bad mood that day :D

When I got my powerlock I looked into the paratool, but saw some bad reviwes on here, which is good the powerlock I think is likely a better EDC

But if I can find a good deal I may goo for a paratool

i recommend a Paratool. Sure it's a little slower to deploy than say a Wave or Charge..but it's a neat, solid tool that's made well.

It's like a Crunch..a gotta have.

The Paratool was one of my first full size tools and is still one of my faves.... it's original and well thought out in a lot of ways I reckon. I love the modability of SOG tools too, makes them even more useful.

I got the line cutter and bottle opener today.  I installed them and put a drop of the wife's clear nail polish on the screw threads as I'm out of Loctite.

I like this little toy.  It ain't real fast to deploy but it is very pocketable.

I think I'll take it fishing this afternoon.
