I've been through many guitars in my career, generally trying to end up with higher quality ones so they were great for studio work as well as live.

I have Taylor and Takamine semis and the trusty Les Paul '78 Custom when things need to get dirty ;)

However, I also keep a piece of cr*p which I picked up for £37 about 24 years ago and I can't seem to part with it!

Give it to me? Please?

:D

I used to come here a lot.

It was a 21st birthday present, and like you, it's the last thing I's ever part with!  ;)

Ah well, worth a try ;)

I had to settle for a Studio - which remains one of the most expensive "toys" I've ever bought. I paid 4000 French Francs for it, from a dodgy looking shop in a red light district in Paris. Just round the corner from the Moulin Rouge :D

So, somewhere in the region of £400 then? That's not a bad price at all. You can't go wrong with a Paul really. Mine is a black one, really beat up and worn. It belonged to a guy who used to tour with Suzi Quatro so it's seen some fun times I'm sure. I've dragged it around some, and it's even had a seat to itself on a plane before :D

Quite right too!

Yeah about £400 with original case, no scratches or damage, but missing the scratch plate. I did get a replacement but have got used to playing it without and I like it the way it is now :) Mine's a 1980 I believe (checked the serial number on the Gibson website a few years back).

I've been playing it since Magic Bus started this thread, so it's his fault my fingers are sore right now :D

I used to come here a lot.

Well I can barely manage more than three cords on a cheap as chips acoustic, but this thread has also managed to give me sore finger-tips.  ::)  Thanks Chris. >:(

Lucky bugger!

It's always been a dream of mine to play in a band with Batman!

In keeping with the thread, here's a few of mine:

The Gibson and Dean Z are long gone, the Hofner Strat and white cheapie have been in storage at my parent's place for years.  The Hofner is a '64 and the white one is a cheapie- in fact, it's so cheap that I think folks playing cheap guitars from Sears looked down on me!  Still, it sounded good, and the more abuse it got, the better it sounded.  It spent about a week outside in the rain once, and some of the fret wires aren't exactly attached to the fretboard anymore- they were sticking out and I used to occasionally cut my hands on them if I wasn't careful!  Still, it always played nice, and always seemed to improve no matter how badly it was beaten.

Best $5 guitar I ever saw!
