Two wonderful knives but?

Just tryin' to lighten things up.

Don't the antenna get in the way when using that pipe wrench?  :D
It's true, but compared to the legs it's really a small issue.

He's not Swiss, but my buddy Steele Hopper is my biggest multitool.  Maybe if I venture out and find the U.S. Multitool forum he can have 15min of fame.

Hello,

I am searching for this sak here in Switzerland, but it's not so easy now,  even here. If I find something, does someone wants me to buy him ?
If I don't find it, it doesn't matter because I think they will release a lot of sak with damascus blades in the future. This one is like a prototype, in my opinion.

See you

That is how it goes with all limited SAK items, when you miss the train it is hard to get what you
needs for your collection .
I was missing the first run to, but the production goes on to 2010 pieces totaly I think.
Thats better than some production runs of 50 pieces I search for.
But when you find one, they are easy to sell, but I don't like the overpricing some people do.

There is still supposed to be a US release of this knife, but I think the Switzerland allotment is long gone.  I've seen a couple other countries get their knives recently.  It has been unoffcially reported that as few as 50 knives may be the sold through the US retail channel.

They became available here this week some time,I believe South Africa only got 20 of them.
Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

Hello, sorry for the delay, I was very busy.
I found 2 of these sak in a little shop so I bought them. I can keep one for my little collection (I will use the other one) or I can sell it if somebody is searching for this sak.

In my opinion, after about 10 years of researches with Swissbianco to elaborate an industrial process for damascus, they should have released a better "celebration" knife, with an exclusive tool, for example. A wenger sak would have been a good choice too, in my opinion (I vastly prefer wenger because of some practical reasons).
This one is not numbered, not completely anodised (anodised tools or so, except knife itself of course, would have been interesting), damascus has no regular pattern, of course there is no lock system, price could be better because it's industrial even if it's damascus, and I very don't like the victorinox loop (?) on this sak compared to the wenger one (classical soldier sak).
I still bought it after hesitating a bit but it is a bit disappointing. It's a prototype.

Is anybody actually using their Damascus-steel knife? :o  Is there any tangible difference from normal inox steel?  Yes, I know that's beside the point, but I'm curious.

Is the blade etched to show the pattern?  In other words, is the surface smooth, or can you feel the grain?

Very Nice pics!  I like the second one the best!

The manufacturing of the knives does use a special technigue that involves etching to reveal the pattern.

I carry mine from time to time, not enough use yet though for a comparison.  If I can get a couple more backups and find some one to add scissors to it it will become my edc.

Thanks ;)
Now that I have taken a closer look, I can see that it is indeed etched.

Does that mean they're here now?! =O

I wish I could rationalize dumping $150 on a knife... XD

EDIT: And if you wanna order they have a 10% off thing going on until 9/20.
Got those frog legs.
