I am confused by Cabela's shipping/charging system.Would anyone in the US be able to accept delivery and re-ship to me in the UK?Would that save me money?
The main issue is that it adds over £200 to the price of the Wave. The charges/waves that I have bought from the states previously cost around £10 to ship.I know that sounds a bit tight, but I could buy a Silver Charge Ltd edition for less than the shipping/customs charges that Cabella want
OK - Just went through the checkout process myself - and selected the "enhanced international shipping" they are charging you Duty and VAT of $138, actual shipping is $64. I have no idea why they would deduct Duty and VAT at source, that's new, but they guarantee the total, so cost to your door would be $652, nothing ot pay at customs. The "International Air" just looks like daylight robbery, costs about the same, and you'll probably get stung by customs on top. Might cost you $800 by the time you see it The problem you are going to have with this, even if someone plays middle man for you, is that if HM Customs spot it, it won't just be subject to VAT and the 8 quid handling charge from the carrier, because of the value of it, there will be duty to pay too. $652 might not be a bad price, unless you think you can get it by HMRC. I think the value of it changes everything......

Shipping to US address: $20. Shipping to UK including $450 worth of insurance: $51=$521. If customs finds it, it would be $138+$12 fee. Total, around $670.
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? I know it's the second Amazon.de have come up trumps with Leatherman but could it be an option? I assume customs is no longer an issue or is it?http://www.amazon.de/limitierte-Sonderedition-gefertigt-hochwertigem-Lederholster/dp/B002JK3N80/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=diy&qid=1273597216&sr=8-1€402.87 More info here [in English]http://www.amazon.de/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=505554
Well, I have some good news I just successfully ordered that Genus from Amazon.de. Shipping was 6 euros or something, and it knew all about my amazon.co.uk account details. So it can be done!It even knew about some stuff I had delivered to my Paris office (from amazon.co.uk) in 1999 But I'm OK with the big brother thing atm, 'cos I'm getting a Leatherman Genus delivered for less than 40 quid
Maybe I should wait and see what gets delivered before I claim victory though
