Multitool.org Multitool update
on: August 05, 2007, 04:30:13 PM
Anyone want one of these?

We had ten Charge ALX prototypes made- five in green and five in blue.  As of right now, we have three available to members.

These aren't re-colored Leatherman scales- they are newly machined aluminum scales, custom anodized in blue or green, then laser etched with the Multitool.org logo on both sides and serial numbered.  The only scale not marked is the one that would be covered by the pocket clip!  They are also assembled by hand so each one is perfect!

Price for these is $150 each, and depending on how well they are received, we may do a full release of them.  Of course, the full release will only be in one color, which we will have a vote on soon.

These three are being offered on a first come, first serve basis.  Contact me for payment details- grant.lamontagne@gmail.com

What's available:
002- Blue
008- Green
009- Green

Any questions?

Man, I love that green one, but I already have an ALX (BO) and my recent purchases from KA-BAR and Gerber have made my money disappear.

I'd buy it if I could!

Very nice, sir!  I like the green one a little better than the blue one.  I'd prefer a midnight blue.  That is, unless my browser or my eyes deceive me about the one you showed (looks more like sky blue).

Yup- it is indeed more of a sky blue than a midnight blue.  Officially the color is listed as "Royal Blue" which I thought would have been darker too.

Here it is next to a Charge XTi so you can compare the colors more accurately.

What did it take to get something like that done?

Is this something Leatherman is going to start offering?

Nope.  This tool modification was done completely in house by one of our prestigious members here at Multitool.org.

Don't believe me?  Check out the video...

The video was kind of hypnotic, a little like the Alumalloy infomercial.  All that was needed was that droning woman's voice in the background!

Great work.  Neat to see the handles being made.

No one wants these?

I am dropping the price to $130 so we can get them out the door.  That's the MSRP on the Charge ALX... and with custom machined, anodized and laser etched scales- they'd be a heck of a lot more than that if you got them done yourselves!

I'm interested but I've spent a lot of money in the past month.  I was waiting for the smoke to clear when my cc billing cycle was over (next week).

If someone beats me to these beauties, that's fine.  They are mighty nice tools.

Man, sorry those things haven't moved yet. They're great tools and I don't think you're charging (<--Pun) too much at all. I'm guessing some of us have our own sob stories. Mine goes like this: last day of work, school starts monday, wife's birthday sunday, best friend's wedding in 2 weeks (that's my story and I'm sticking to it  :D). I hope this works out though, and I know you guys have put lots of time into this! I'm sure they'll find happy homes before long...  :)

Well, it's not a huge deal about them sticking around a bit.  I just thought I'd try to help members out a bit.  There is the possibility for getting more in the future, so it's not like you absolutely have to grab them now or miss out forever.

I would have loved to jump at the green one. But life just gets in the way of multitool collecting. :( Like some of you guys my stepkids start school soon, one of them also has a birthday coming up. mmmmmm.... Maybe I can convince him that a multitool.org multitool would be the best gift for him. And I should hold on to it for safe keeping. ;D In all serious Def you and the guys did a great job on these you obviously put allot of hard work and thought into them.

Hi Def,

If you still have one of the green ones, I'd like it.  Please email me with how much in total (shipping to zip code 01545 in Massachusetts) and how to pay you.

Thanks - Joe
