Mod fuse or Pulse?
on: May 18, 2010, 10:45:35 PM
So I realized how easy it would be to buy a knifeless fuse, steal the knife off of my kick, and have a file and knife on the fuse.  Then I realized it would be about the same as a Pulse, except without a small flathead.  Ebay currently has a pulse for $44 shipped, while I could have the Fuse done for less than $40, seeing how I already own the donor.  I like the locking mech and drivers better on the Fuse, but as per LM specs, the pulse will be lighter, which is a factor.  What do you think?

Pulse v Fuse with added file eh? Two very good tools. I'm a bit of a traditionalist and would go for the Pulse.

You get a diamond file on the Pulse, which is better than supplied on the Knifeless Fuse and Blast :)
I used to come here a lot.

Blast is too bulky.  I don't have much use for a saw, and I don't like the removable bit.  I had a fuse, lost it, so I'm looking to replace it.  I don't really mind the ergonomics of the older tools, but I like the tools and lock on the fuse.  I have a Super tool 200 and the lock on it isn't bad, but it's not as nice as the Fuse.  I think the tools aren't as important, if I know I'm going to be using a screwdriver I'll just get the toolbox...

My Pulse is my most used tool.  Great tool array, and I actually like the locks better.

Pushed the button, bought the pulse today!  The same seller also has the PST and PST II new!  Seeing how a PST II is a pulse without the lock, and it's more expensive, that's one that I can do without.  I still have my 1996 PST, it hangs out in my race toolbox to fit the pliers/knife/pliers requirement.  I foresee it becoming my EDC.

I got the pulse today!  The tool clumping is worse than the Fuse, and the lock isn't as user friendly, but I knew that going in.  So far I do like it a lot, thanks to all who recommended it.  Now, the question is, do I like it more or less than my 3/4 wave?
