Problems opening OH Wave Blade
on: May 25, 2010, 09:13:09 PM
I just got a used Wave, and depending on how much sideways pressure I put on the OH blade, I am unable to open it.  If I use a *really* light touch, I can usually open it.  I can always open it with two hands.

There's a little pin that keeps the blades from opening while the pliers are open.  This pin is sticking up just a *smidgen* too far, and if the blade has any pressure forcing it toward that pin, it engages and keeps the blade from opening.

Has anybody seen that before?  I figure I'll just attack that pin with some detail files, but I figured I'd run it past y'all first to see if you had any bright ideas.

Its an awkward little pin. I would suggest returning the tool to Leatherman.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

+1 to that.  They will handle it.

Yeah, from the description I wonder whether the pin is bent, and whether bending it back might snap it.

I'd let the warranty do the work there I think :)
I used to come here a lot.

I also would let the warranty work for you in this situation.
