Hollow-handle Gerber Hatchets

Do the hollow handles in the Gerber hatchet/knife hatchet/saw combos hold up?  It seems like they'd be really weak, but I've heard good things about the other Gerber hatchets...

The handle isn't going to break under normal use, but if you overshoot and smack the wood with handle it may. I've heard complains about the magnet isn't strong enough to hold knife/saw inside when using axe so you will need to take it out first.

I'm quite fond of mine.  It's only a small axe though.

I have the splitting axe.  It's been used a good bit and seems stout.

Amici,
To each his own, I prefer a nice double or single bit mounted on good old Hickory, but I know of several hikers and the slightly wacky ultra-light backpackers who swear by them..

Cheers,
Serge
