Posting Auction links???
on: May 24, 2010, 07:12:26 AM
My question is how members and mods feel about posting "Check this out" auction listing links. Like many others I am a frequent Ebay browser and often see auction listings that might be of interest to the members of this forum. I have, however, been reluctant to post a link to these auctions since doing so might hose someone who is watching and hoping for a bargain on the item.

Is there any rule of thumb in this regard?  I didn't see anything specific to this in the forum rules sticky topic.

As long as it's not to your own business, then it's fine mate :)

Links to EDCSource, Ebay and Amazon are fine mate :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

"Bargain Hunters" will agree with you partly on this statement but a true "collector" will always be interested in seeing an auction for something whether they bid or not because it gives them sales data and photos of an item they might want to try and acquire in the future.

Generally, (although not completely) if someone posts up that they're  "Going for it!", most people here on the forum seem to back off of cherrypicking  (unless it's high on their list too).

Recently, I bought a lot of SAKs.  My interest was in one specific knife and another member wanted a different one.  I won the auction and arranged to sell on the knife the other member wanted (it was nice, just not my current interest).  I think it worked pretty well for all parties.

To quote the PA announcer at the Ravens Football games, "Have fun, root hard, show respect for the fans around you but don't be a jerk!"  (Baltimore Ravens Fan Code of Conduct)

Just go ahead and post them.   Chako will just have to deal with competition....he can't buy the world!
