Some of you may have noticed that this is now the "Forum Formerly Known as the Cycle Path."  Well, we changed the name to include all outdoor sports and activities such as hiking, boating, cycling (of course!), hunting, fishing, bird watching and sitting on the porch, drinking beer and shooting squirrels.

The change was made for several reasons.  One, for much of the US, Canada, Europe etc, biking will become a little scarce in a few short months since the weather gets pretty cold, and many will be trading in their bikes for a pair of skis, snowboards, dogsled or even just a mug of cocoa and a warm fire.  It seemed like a good move.  We aren't limiting cycling discussions any time of the year, but to increase the success of this forum, we decided to open it up for everything else too!

Another good reason is that I don't cycle much.  I have many reasons for this- bad knees, bad ankle, no bike, too many excuses, but I have spent much time in here talking about my latest activity, which is kayaking.  I own the forum and I want to enjoy every bit of it, and since I don't cycle I either had to take it off topic or make even more posts talking about stuff I knew nothing about!  So, I changed it for my own selfish reasons!  Nyahh!   :P

Lastly, I started this forum as a cycle tool forum because there were so many different bike tools on the market these days.  It's an important segment that we shouldn't miss out on if we want to be (and already are!) the ultimate independent authority on multitools, but as interesting a concept as it is, it's still limited.

After all, what about ski tools?  Snowmobile tools?  Fishing tools?  Boating tools?  Shooting tools?  Survival tools?  Hiking tools?  They may not represent a huge share of the market individually but as a whole, we'd be pretty stupid to overlook them!

It's all in the name of our constant evolution to keep this site as the best resource for new and existing members.  As usual, feel free to toss in any thoughts, comments questions etc you may have.

Woohoo!  I wonder if anyone makes a squirrel hunting multitool!?!

Sound like a good idea def!

I guess a purely cycling forum would have a small number of intersted parties, this is a much better plan :)

So now I can bore the arse of you all about bushcraft as well now ;D

Yuppers, it's pretty sweet and nicer in person!

I think it's pretty solid for going on the ocean.  The guy said he'd taken it out on the ocean and he loved it.  And, at a mere $3500, it's much cheaper than I was expecting!

Not a big deal buddy- I doubt they discuss enough multitools to affect us! :P

For what that boat is, I would have thought it'd be well over $5,000 so while $3,500 is a lot of money, it's a lot less than I expected!

I've got say this one is right up my street...

I didn't realize there were models you could pedal :), as long as you can maintain you balance, I'd of though they'd be perfrct for longish range touring :)

The big one I showed can be pedaled as well.  It's what they call a Marine Drive system and it has little flippers on the bottom.  I tried it yesterday on that other gentleman's boat and you can get a good speed going.  The salesman told the gentleman I was talking to yesterday that you can maintain 5 knots with the pedals alone, and under full sail it's been clocked at 11 knots.

The Mirage drive system isn't a regular circular pedaling motion- more of a back and forth.  It takes a few minutes to get used to, but it flies like you wouldn't believe!

Actually, pricing on most of the Hobie line isn't too bad.  Had I not gotten such a good deal on mine I may have looked closer at some of theirs.  I think one of theirs will be my next 'yak.

I've got more money than brains... and since I am broke, that says a lot about me!

I say the next one, but that's likely to be another year or two unfortunately.  Unless one of my websites starts bringing in some money... that would be nice...

Maybe the car one will.  As soon as I get off me arse and do something with it...

Plus they are squishy and gross.

If God wanted me to eat peas, he'd have made them out of beef.
