Hey Sparky,
Get this, the little guy asked me if I wanted to get into restoring, sends a pic of a completely rusted hatchet, says we can get it cheap then clean it up and sell it for a better price so we can make a few,, lol

Not all from the back of a car, but we've been on holiday this week and my wife and I spent a bit of time searching through bric-a-brac, second hand book shops and whatnot.  A cheap 3/4 sized guitar for my daughter to strum on, three small enamel bowls, a nice old book on swords and stuff and a excellent drawknife. 8)

Great scores!

At one point, there was a bundle for the Play Station 3 that included the game Rocksmith and an actual Epiphone Les Paul. In my teens, I noticed that bundle at my local Tuesday Morning for $30. I only had a Play Station 2, and back then did not realize the guitar was real; and $150 new. Had I known that, I would have likely bought the bundle, sold the game on; bought an amp and learned to play the guitar.  That's a rather big mistake over the years I've always felt.

Assorted screws. I've amassed quite a pile, from my Granddad letting me have old toolboxes he was using to hold assorted hardware (which I then went back to using as toolboxes), and I halfway have organized them into a hardware organizer so that I can find them when I need them. Saves a trip all the way to Fastenal (Lowe's never carries what I need; and the Hillman stuff isn't that good) for one 5-cent screw/bolt/nut/washer.  And given Fastenal is about 20 minutes from my house, it's far more than 5-cents of gas to go there.

That belt pouch looks quite handy. I have a couple that are similar. Saves the aggravation of multiple sheaths on my belt, as well as a bunch of junk stuffed in my pockets when working.

That hawkbill might be Chinese, but a good knife to beat up.  In fact, at my local flea markets; I am probably the same with hawkbills as you are axes. If i see one fairly cheaply (around the $10 mark), and the blade is full, and the tip is good, I pick them up. Being heavily utilized by coal miners around here, they are easy to find. Most of mine are Klein Tools; while I do have a few fancier ones (i.e. Queen/Ontario).

JR, You know me and buying axes  ::)  :ahhh

Cody, A Guy there does house clearance (a lot of sellers at car boot sales do) and if stuff hasn't sold after a couple of hours they just want it gone
so I made an offer for a bag of screws and he said yes, I still haven't sorted through it yet.....
Although made in China it is not a bad little knife with good lock up, came in the pouch with the secateurs for not a lot of money  ;)

Is that toolbox going on the project pile? Metal trays in its future? The CK pipegrips look very similar to the Knipex version.

Those Lucas combination pliers are neat. Insulated? First I've seen with black handles--most I  have seen offered for sale (in the UK) were white.

The hammer head looks like it is just perfect for peening knife pins the way it's made. Compared to the little ball peen in my toolbox, it's different in a lot of ways.

I'm assuming that old toolbox was a machinist's chest with drawers at one point. Still handy to have though.

I was just thinking about metal trays this afternoon  :tu:
CK make very good tools but I think they are not quite as good as Knipex

I have only ever seen black insulation on these pliers Cody
Yes I find a lot of these hammers seem 'elongated' I don't know the reason for the difference
The toolbox is also odd as some of it seems handmade  ….another project to play with when I get time  :tu:

I suspect the longer preening hammers are for whitesmithing.

I look forward to seeing what you do with the toolbox.  :)

Definitely exciting!  That Clamp is really sturdy looking. Is it marked? Another Footprint, always a nice find. The King Dick wrench is also a nice addition. Those spot lights are always handy.

Are the Maglites LED or incandescent? While solid, I stopped buying the incandescent ones. A: I can't find the bulbs locally, and they blow on me once a month and B: they're dim.

Great selection of knives. The two SAKs should clean up quite easily.

Every time I see "King Dick" on a tool, I have to giggle. Dunno why.

Nice lights. Hella is a pretty good brand.  I'm looking at something similar to fit a Ford F-250 I'm looking at buying. Granddad had bought it new in 1989, sold it to my Dad in 1998 (we'd just bought a new Dodge Ram 1500), who in 2004 sold it (as he'd just taken delivery of a 2004 F-250 he'd special ordered) to a neighbor. While my Granddad and Dad babied the truck (and it still looked new in 2004), the guy it was sold to, and his adult sons made a mess out of it and tore it up. Dings, rust, body panel damage, ugly decals everywhere and dents are the main problem.  That's why my spending limit is $2500 (which is very lowball).   A rack (from a wrecked power company truck) was mounted to it behind the cab; and it does have mountings for two work lights and a beacon.
