To me, it looks more like it should be driven into something, and the thread used with a slide hammer for extraction if it gets stuck, but I can't think of a relevant lumber application.

It's aluminium so I don't think so

My guess is it screws onto a piece of (sawmilling) machinery.

I think it's more of a promotional or advertizing item for the Lumber company.

Perhaps it is screwed onto something to be stuck down into a container and measure the temperature of a liquid--say radiator fluid?

True - I should have read the words on it.
It screws onto something their customers would use perhaps?

Last week I found a 12 gauge shotgun Lee Loader. It was missing the instructions/Load chart and shot measure. I can get the instructions online and I can make the shot measure. Paid five dollars for it.

I also found a old cross Farmer for three dollars

The blades were gummed up and hard to open washed it with soap and hot water then soaked in PB Blaster  for a few days and got all the tools working good.

Just for grins I took a red sharpie to the scales

Nice one, Steve  :tu: I have something similar for my shaving gear, but it's a cheapo "fake wood" laminated affair.

Nice Steve,
I gave mine away  ::)

This morning I picked up this little pile
The thing top middle is a Tormek SVD-186 Gouge Jig  ;)
To the left next to the hinges is an Eclipse 44 multiple tool
And in the middle is 'The Ding Dong Junior Saw Frame'     :D

How can you call that a proper pile with not a single axe head in sight?

The rusty wrench does provide some redemption.  Those eclipse 44 handles are neat.

I wonder what the Senior Saw frame looks like?  :D

Update:  Found out Ding Dong Blades made a No. 6 hacksaw frame.  Nifty tool.  There is a YouTube video with background music on it.  Looking at a hacksaw while listening to Flight of the Valkeries is weird.

Hey, so long as the price is right!
Just like our older kid who just bought a car, cause well the price was a steal! And not from a person but a dealer..

I have a set of those circlip pliers, Tony. There should be a spring to help keep the pin in place
